Same as it was before Warne went: Murali

Edit: special mention for Kumble... but no contest

Edit: now he's started a season fully fit for the first time in several years, the resurgent Pollock is quite clearly the best seamer on the planet for all but the most extreme conditions. In their different ways, Hoggard, Ntini, Akhtar, Clark and Asif deserve seperating out as the elite.

How come Clark didn't make the list? He's way better than Lee, Sreesanth, Flintoff and Vettori!

Rachael, how can you rate Murali? the thread title was who is the best bowler .

It is difficult to say who is the best as there are many bowlers who have lots of differant strengths.
On current form Asif, Ntini, Clark, Hoggard and Pollock are right up there, it just depends on what you are looking for on any particular day.

What is interesting is that niether Hoggy or Clark are particualry any good at the one day game.

Several tests have proven that Murali is not a chucker, but of course the bad losers who cannot pick him will continue to claim so.

Murali is only shown not to be a chucker because the so called flexing law was increased to 15 degrees to allow him to bowl. BTW he can bowl leg spin with a straight arm so why not off spin .

Well seeing as he can't straighten his arm at all, I'll take that as untrue.

Murali is the best Test bowler.

He's proved it time and time again and it is only the ignorant or those with an axe to grind who can't handle it.

Yeah but pie_c Murali is not a chucker - if the reason is the rules were changed for him - then AMEN.
Looking at the list with Pollock getting on, no-one bowler stands out above the rest.

Lee
Hoggard
Flintoff
Asif
Kumble

How do you pick, and compare with Warne.

Bond injury prone, Vaas IMO well overshadowed but Murali, Ntini are class, but in truth the game is poorer without Warne.
