The leading cricketer was actually Muralitharan. They have also got a panel of experts to backdate the 'leading cricketer of the year' over 100 years. Makes very interesting reading and should form a great debate on here at some stage.

How did Flintoff even get a mention he had a average 2006 season, in tests he made 469 runs at 31.26 from 10 matches, he took 33 wickets at 33.78

Does anybody know:

a) how longs it's been since the list didn't contain any Australians, and
b) if anyone apart from Panesar has been named (prodominantly) for their performances in their debut test season?
