As Younis Khan has captained the side before in Inzy's absence, my guess is that it'd be him. The chop-and-change method of selection in Pakistan at the moment means it's hard tolook beyond him, Mohammad Yousef and Kamran Akmal for the captaincy.

It should be Younis Khan he looks to be the first preference.

I would say that Younis Khan or Yusuf look favorites, but with Pakistan you can never tell. Over the next year it wouldnt surprise me if they both have stints as skipper .

Younis Khan without a doubt. He is tough and has 'Captain' written all over him. Mohammed Yousuf might be a great batsman, but does not seem to have the mental strength to cope with the burden of captaincy.

Younis Khan reminds me of Justin Langer he is a battler, not the most talented cricketer but has more mental strength than any other cricketers in the world. If Khan does not get captaincy I will be very surprised. Yousuf is a brilliant batsman but I don't think he is captain material either, with a batsman like Yousuf you just want him to think about batting nothing more. So many good batsmen that become captain are rarely as good with the bat as they were before given the captaincy. There are also players that the captaincy helps and it improves there batting its just up to the individual.

Each test countries last two captains that are batsman and the difference between batting averages before and after being captain. (min 10 tests)

Australia
Ricky Ponting - Career Average 59.29, As Captain 65.68, Not Captain 55.97 - +6.39
Steve Waugh - Career Average 51.06, As Captain 52.30, Not Captain 50.44 - +1.24

England
Michael Vaughan - Career Average 42.94, As Captain 35.89, Not Captain 50.98 - -7.05
Nassar Hussain - Career Average 37.18, As Captain 36.04, Not Captain 38.10 - -1.14

India
Rahul Dravid - Career Average 57.33, As Captain 45.74, Not Captain 60.12 - -11.59
Sourav Ganguly - Career Average 40.86, As Captain 37.66, Not Captain 44.21 - -3.20

New Zealand
Stephen Fleming - Career Average 39.64, As Captain 40.59, Not Captain 36.60 - +0.95
Ken Rutherford - Captain Average 27.08, As Captain 27.36, Not Captain 26.93 - +0.28
*Germon only played 12 tests all as captain before Fleming*

Pakistan
Inzamam-ul-Haq - Career Average 50.07, As Captain 52.80, Not Captain 49.35 - +2.73
Moin Khan - Career Average 28.55, As Captain 27.37, Not Captain 27.00 - -1.18

South Africa
Graeme Smith - Career Average 47.08, As Captain 45.98, Not Captain 55.09 - -1.1
Hansie Cronje - Career Average 36.41, As Captain 36.32, Not Captain 36.70 - -0.09

Sri Lanka
Mahela Jayawardene - Career Average 48.37, As Captain 51.73, Not Captain 47.80 - +3.36
Marvin Atapattu - Career Average 38.90, As Captain 41.66, Not Captain 38.13 - +5.25

West Indies
Brian Lara - Career Average 52.88, As Captain 57.83, Not Captain 50.12 - +4.95
Shivnarine Chanderpaul - Career Average 44.60, As Captain 47.18, Not Captain 44.17 - +2.58

Out of 16 captains 8 have improved there averages and 8 have lowered there averages, the highest improvement was Ponting and the biggest drop was Rahul Dravid.

Yousuf has captained Pakistan on three occasions and Younis Khan has captained twice
Yousuf - Career 56.00, As Captain 33.80, Not Captain 57.00 - -22.20
Khan - Career 48.21, As Captain 27.00, Not Captain 49.21 - -21.21

Pakistan Captain

Pakistan currently after all whats happened need a captain in the Imran mold and im not sure they have anyone of thar calibure. Younis Khan seems to be the nearest thing and someone like Javed Miandad needs to come back as coach during this difficult time. Im an England fan but its so sad for Cricket to see whats happened to Bob Woolmer and the fact that 2 of the most talent teams in Pakistan and India have gone out already. In my mind theres little to stop Australia with the lose of these 2 teams

I thi nk pakistan will become a very poor side, uder his eadership his batting talents will suffer, and he does not seem to have the tactical ability, in games i have seen him in especially the champions trophey, he doesnt look anytrhing different and will not be able to lift the sifde with his preformnces this is the beginning of the end for pakistani cricket
