In truth, accurate bowlers who pitch the ball up and get movement often go for a few more runs (being driven when they overpitch and suffering as edges race to the boundary) whilst hopeless speedsters periodically get away with a died of drossy short balls because they rarely make the batsmen play and just keep charging in to no good effect.

When viewing run rates in Test cricket this needs to be considered: any top bowler should generally have an economy rate of 2.5-2.8... and any decent Test bowler who makes batsmen play most deliveries should still manage no more than 3.1 or 3.2... but there's no excuse for bowlers going for 3.2 if they ain't pitching the ball up and close to the stumps for at least 5 deliveries in every over!
I meant that in ODIs the umpires are much stricter with wides. Quite a few balls from Harmison and Plunkett went down leg side which would had been wided in ODIs.

One good thing is Donald is going to look at why Harmison hardly takes wickets in his first spell.

IMO niether of the Hinds' are good enough, but i dont see anyone the Windies have who is anywhere near good enough.

The WI could do a lot worse than draft Pedro Collins into thier team. At least he has a bit of class about him. Does anyone know why he was left out of the tou party??

Do you think that they could persuade brian lara?

Otherwise I'd go for the lad Marlon Samuels

That has bee suggested, but I think Politics would mean that neither player gets the nod.

Brian Lara did not retire voluntarily, the board wanted him out, I doubt they will want him back, as for Samuels the allegations of match fixing are hanging over his head, and a very poor World Cup will mean I doubt he will get a call up.

Having said that, I have no idea who they will pick!!
