Windies call for Samuels

According to Auntie Beeb, Marlon Samuels has been called up to the West Indian squad for the rest of the series:

Couldn't understand why he wasn't called up in the first place, even with the "match-fixing" cloud over his head. Innocent until proven guilty as far as I'm concerned, and as long as he isn't mentally affected by the cloud then we could see an improvement in the Windies' performances.

Can't see it happening, the cold in the air, the swinging ball, all these little things add up, and with no Lara/Sarwan, they only have Chanderpaul and sometimes Gayle who can provide resistance in most innings. The rest throw in 1 in 5 or so good knocks, and unless someone like Bravo puts in a super performance with bat/ball, can't see this ending in anything less than a England series victory.

On Samuel himself, don't think he will impress in the long version of the game, decent one day player, but won't ever break 30 in ave's for me, will stick around the 25 mark.

Just waiting for Hoggy to come back! Looks like hes delayed his comeback after not playing in the 2 matches he was planning to warm up in, so no 3rd test for him looks almost certain.

He averages 28 in Tests and still only 29 in one days.

His selection or non-selection had nothing to do with any clouds over his head.

Admittedly, you could spin a coin over whether he or the other similarly poor performing players were picked and one could say he has more talent than Sylvester Joseph, but I doubt Marlon Samuels non-selection is a case of "why wasn't he picked in the first place".

We now have a captain that averages 27 and I doubt if Samuels will be in England to play in the 3 day warm up game.

So he will be undercooked also.
