Well, there's not much more to say, is there? Horrible stuff, and one only wonders if it could have been tidied up somewhat earlier. Now that's a whole new line of discussion which doubtless will start up in coming hours and days - but I think I'll stay clear of that one.

Seeing as this has now been officially announced, I can break my self imposed silence on the matter.

One can say hindsight is 20/20 vision or I am playing wise after the fact, but I NEVER thought Woolmer had been killed.

I know the Pegasus hotel and a family member is close enough in the circle of senior members of the Jamaica Constabulary to have heard things off the record.

Though stories can take on a life of their own, some particulars (much of which were not reported or, if so, distorted by the media), point to the poor man dying naturally

Not all, in fact most, of the people closely involved with the case knew Woolmer died naturally but sadly others with more clout forced further investigation on the instigation of others. Who they are may or may not come out so I will not pass any further comment on that issue lest my comments become the start of even further worldwide rumours.

Suffice to say, all those quick to make pronouncements on crime in Jamaica and that the slowness in capturing a killer was due to incompetence, I doubt we will see any apologies from them.

However, they will now jump to another of the tried and tested criticisms.

I'm sure for the rest of time, Jamaican Police will be deemed incompetent and out of their depth.

That the first officers on site did not deem it to be a murder will be forgotten.

That the pathologist, Dr. Ere Sheshiah, made an error that Mark Shields had to follow on hastily to satisfy the thirst of information from an international media core that needs updates every minute is regretful.

That neither of them are Jamaican makes the fact that Jamaica will have to bear the charge of incompetence unfairly adds insult to injury.

Ninjaman - I for one am not going down the road of knocking the Jamaican Police - I don't know the circumstances, and like OF I am keeping clear.

No point in attaching blame - the man died of natural causes, let the story die with him.

No. I definitely won't think that. BBC conducted an interview with Mark Shields after the media briefing and for the first time he looked like a man who could finally say what's really on his mind.

I think Shields acted with shrewdness in getting 3 more opinions. NOT that he was second-guessing the pathologist, but he wanted to make sure. And I (as I'm sure the Woolmer family and everyone else) am thankful that he did.

The Jamaican police did a thorough and proper investigation and came to the right conclusions.

Dr Ere Sheshaiah is standing by his findings: That Bob Woolmer was murdered.

The Jamaican police say they are 99% sure it was natural causes.

Senior South African Forensical pathologist, Prof Lorna Martin, agrees with the Jamaica Police. She says a couple of interesting things in this interview http://www.dieburger.com/Pages/Multi...4.0.2722968566 (its an Afrikaans newspaper, but the interview in in English)
