We could be on for a couple of very good days Test cricket if England bat properly. India will attack from the start then sit back if England get going.

Let's be honest, the umpiring in this Test has been poor. Both Tendulkar and Ganguly were unfortunate to be given out in the way they were. However, as was pointed out earlier, Gangulay was out to Sidebottom in the first over of Day 3 and Monty had both openers out before lunch on Day2. How different a scenario that would have presented us with! Remember also that Cook was given out when the ball was high but was let off when plumb and that KP's lbw as shown to be a good couple of inches over the top. Not a good couple of days for Messrs Taufel and Howell. Let's hope they stay out of the limelight today and tomorrow.

Big day for the England batsmen today, they are under pressure and need to prove to all how good they really are.

Sadly i agree that something like that may happen in the future which is why i want a clampdown on the England offenders now.

Apart from the fact that we're in a losing position barring a strong batting performance for the next 4/5 sessions, I think our bowlers have performed very well.
Anderson is the senior man in the bowling attack, and he's only 25 (today, as it happens...)
Sidebottom has performed excellently, and I would be very annoyed were he to make way for the inconsistent and grumpy Harmison. Likewise Tremlett, who has been extremely economical.
When Hoggard's fit, I would like to see him back, but at the moment, none of these bowlers have really done anything to justify being dropped.
At least this means that Mahmood and Plunkett are a long way from selection now. Phew!

Well, first blood to India this morning. Zaheer removes Cook. Big wicket IMO. Zaheer has been very impressive since returning to the Indian team. Could the experience of county cricket have helped his career. Sreesanth is still struggling and has not performed in the series thus far. Perhaps India should look at playing Agarker for the next test. KP will have to save England again. Eng 49/1 afer 20 overs.

ZK is good bowling over the wicket to big left handers, with that ball that he slants in. Recall how much trouble Graeme Smith had with that ball recently? Cook is also a tall man and so could be vulnerable to that delivery, but the shorter and more nimble Strauss should cope better.

Sreesanth involved in an unsavoury incident where he barged into Vaughan for no reason whatsoever.Personally i think it has now got out of hand on both sides in this game and the match referee should take action.

India got the early breakthrough and thought they had Vaughan but a brilliant bit of umpiring by Taufel who gave it not out and the replays showed Vaughan hit his boot.Great umpiring.

129-1 at lunch.

The first session of the match that England can claim they have won, just need to repeat that 5 more times and they can draw the game.England have batted well on what now looks a flat deck and unless they bat stupidly they have a chance of saving the game though India should still record an easy win from this position.

Not going to comment on Strauss or vaughan as i don't want to put the mockers on them.

I am not so sure. The TV replay with the "snicko" showed contact between ball and bat when there was visibly a few inches of air between the bat & boot. Also, Vaughan was very lucky not to be given out lbw with Kumble's first ball; it hit the pad first and was going on to hit leg & middle stumps. But Karthik spoilt the situation by appealing for a non-existent catch.

But England's batsmen did show gritty detemination, helped by very poor and unimaginative captaincy from Dravid (as usual). With the ball swinging all over the place, Zaheer Khan and Singh bowled 11 overs between them. At least 20 runs were gifted by Tendulkar and Kumble, the latter perhaps bowling from the wrong end.

I never saw the snicko i was going off the 'Hotspot' which showed heat on his boot and nothing on the bat.The problems of the technology then,i also missed the Kumble appeal as i was making the kids lunch.
