India in a very good position now and their best bowler is yet to come.

BTW
Zaheer Khan is the fourth left-arm quick to pass 150 Test wickets ... the others are Wasim Akram (414) Chaminda Vaas (319) and Alan Davidson (186). So now you know.

It sure has evened itself out for Cook. He was very lucky with the first lbw shout and so this little slip makes-up for it.

Definately India's day. I don't agree with the thinking of "win the toss win the match" as bowling first was by no means a given IMO (damp ball etc). India bowled really well and fully deserved what they got. A big test coming up for our second string seamers who really should have won the game for us at Lords. I do not believe India's big batting guns will fail for a second time and we are right up against it. Have to try to scramble to over 200 and bowl our socks off!! We're still not out of it but not a very distinguished batting performance today I'm afraid.

With you all the way there Ern. I'd love to see Bell do well when it really matters. Its all very well getting tons and looking jack the biscuit when you come in with 2/300 on the board but when the pressures really on (Oval 2005) is when it counts.

Lets hope he makes up for it next dig as he will be needed.

It was a good toss to win IMO, but in truth the England batsmen showed little application, they should have been batting with the conditions in mind.

Collingwood was playing well, then went for a drive that was not on - I wonder where the England coaches got qualified.

I have got a feeling the England bowlers are going to enjoy this pitch. India need a good start when they bat.

India's first aim will be to dismiss the tailenders as quickly as possible. We have seen innumerable instances in the past of Indian bowlers struggling to take wickets of Opposition tailenders. The first session on Day-2 is going to be crucial.

I bet the pitch wasn't this one. Apparently none of English batsmen gave their wicket away which doesn't bode well. The hope is that the pitch loses a bit of juice maybe if England bat an hour it will help.
My guess is the 1st innings scorces will be close.
