| If only Vaughan had annexed that comment with "...while I was on the field." As he was not on the field himself at the time, it seems a little unfair to blame him / call for his head. Blame Collingwood maybe, seeing as he was temporarily in charge at the time?

| The point in this case is not whether the beans were thrown, but whether the captain took the trouble to find out before making his ill-advised and inaccurate statement to the press. He is responsible for what he said in my view, both in this case and the Fredalo debacle. Rule 1 before opening your mouth to a journalist: get your facts right, because every single one you refer to is going to be checked.
