Sangakkara is officially the best Wicket Keepr

As an Australian fan , Gilchrist being the best was crystal clear for me and whenever Sangakkara's name came up I used to frown in disbelief.

But now I'm have to concede Sangakkara is truly number one.

His wicket keeping is better ( does not fluff as much as Gilly ) and a pure batsmen you can trust.
Gilchrist is a miss or hit.

You add his benevolent attitude and I can't stop admiring him.

Well, it is not "official" so to speak, but i must agree that at this point in time if you had to pick a team to save your life, Sangakarra would likely be the one you would go with.

But just remember, Gilly is now in his mid thirties but 5 years ago, he was just as reliable and consistant. He is getting old now, thus his inconsistancy.

Sangakkara hasn't been keeping so much this year. I wonder if his superb form is as a result of this?

This is a completely pointless post, as Sangakkara is no longer the Sri Lankan wicket keeper, and hasn't been for a year now!!

As pointed out by Andrew Miller on CricInfo

When you look back through history, you notice that there have been very few cricketers that were able to successfully perform two disciplines at the same time. It seems that one suffers at the expense of the other.

I think Sangakarra giving up the gloves has a lot to do with his current form

Sangakkara no longer having the gloves has an awful lot to do with his amazing current form. The fact he is also a brilliant gloveman as well makes him a fantastic cricketer.

He's the latest player to have a tremendous run of batting in the last years, and break records with the bat.

Last year it was Yousuf, the year before it was Kallis with his five centuries.

Something MUST be done in order to make dismissing good quality batsmen after they have reached 30 easier. The game is becoming a bit of a a joke!!!

On current form he is the best batsman among the recognised keepers but he is not the best wicket keeper in the world.

The best keeper in the world is probably being kept out of the Aust team by Gilly...could be Haddin, Ronchi, Hartley take your pick

Everyone is saying Haddin is the man. I'm not so sure though. If i was a selector, i would bypass Haddin for Ronchi for sure.
