The 300 run partnership between Ganguly & Yuvraj must have hit Pakistan like a bolt from the blue after their promising start. That was some innings from Yuvraj Singh.

This has certainly put a lot of pressure on the Indian selectors. Now that they've made the baffling move of not selecting Sehwag in the initial squad, I think they now have to open with Dravid and Jaffer, and maybe promote Laxman to 3. Now that Sreesanth's out injured, the Indian bowling's going to look a little one-dimensional. If they play three fast bowlers, then the odds are that at least two of them will be left-armers. If they play two fast bowlers and two spinners, then the only right-arm fast bowler they can play will be Ajit Agarkar, and he's useless. I don't know if the Indian selectors realised just how much they were going to rely on Sreesanth.

I wonder what the odds for India passing 600 runs would have been at lunchtime yesterday when they were 77 for 4?

As for right arm pacemen, I agree that Sreesanth is useful at test level, but there are other options. Agarkar is still worth a try, but not with the new ball; I think he is a better bowler with the older one, with the ability to reverse swing. Also, I still think that VRV Singh has potential and under the right coaching could produce better results.

The Indian batting has been brilliant in this series so far. But I would not make much of it simply because the high scores are against a very weak Pakistan bowling attack and on "dead" pitches. If the pre-lunch session on Day 1 was an indication, the Australian bowlers would be licking their lips to bowl at the Indian batsmen.

Pathan has scored his maiden century - congratulationsto him.

But does India need bowlers who score centuries or bowlers who take wickets??

we will come to know soon when Pathan takes the new ball. Pakistan's first target will be 426 to avoid follow on. The pitch is still good for batting. If they can avoid follow on, we have another draw coming.

Why has Lawson picked Shoaib again? He broke down and didn't bowl sufficient overs in the last Test when they knew he was injured. To do it again is plain ridiculous. I would be asking some serious questions of Lawson if I were a Pakistan supporter.

70 extras from India, and the innings isn't even closed - the world record of 71 is very possible, not something India should be proud...

31 Byes - was Karthik wearing gloves??

Not sure why he ever gets selected.. This is another example of why Shoaib will never be the great bowler that he thinks he is... If he wasn't fit, he shouldn't have played.. I could be wrong, but I wonder whether after 10 wicketless overs he wasn't enjoying himself and so opted out with an injury..
