Worst Commentator in cricketing history?

I'm sure there are a few..... Mark Nicholas gets my vote. He's so annoying. I don't know how the Australians can stand him, we clearly couldn't.

P.S Sorry that should be "In" not "Is"

That's easy. He spends entire stints with the microphone a**e licking Aussies. He panders to their significant egos.

Has to go to Johnny Saunders: the worst of the Radio 5-live disasters who have been foisted onto the TMS team since Sports-Extra got involved.

As much as I loathe the smarmy **** Nicholas he is at least capable of producing the occasional inspired moment (the commentary of Harmison's slower ball to Clarke) or insight that makes every single over the top exclamation..... "CRACKERJACK SHOT!!!!!!!", "OH BOY!!!!!!!" e.t.c...... that greets each Michael Clarke push for a single amost bearable and if you compare him to 90 percent of the Sky team he suddenly appears Benaudesque. Willis, Botham, Allott, Colville, Ward all should not be allowed within 100 meters of a microphone and I also fear that my Warwickshire bias is letting new recruit Nick Knight off the hook.

Nick Knight isn't so bad. Willis and Allott and the worst offenders, especially in a county match. They could make the tied Test matches look run of the mill with their bored style of commentating.

Worst commentator? Gosh there's so many!

The most irritating by far in my opinion has to be Henry Blofeld, I know it's not 'popular' to criticise Blofeld but I just find him intensely annoying. When I'm having to listen to TMS (which isn't often, admittedly) usually when I'm at the gf's all I want to hear is a commentary about the cricket or at least cricket related banter, gossip and chat - certainly not about wandering errant butterflies, moths, insects or planes flying overhead, I do wish he'd focus his attention on the job at hand. Blofeld isn't cutesey, charming or charismatic - he's just damned irritating and I wish they'd get rid of him.

Of the others, I find Ramiz Raja hopelessly biased towards Pakistan and incapable of offering an unbiased opinion on anything at all really. I know English commentators tend to be biased towards England (particularly Botham) but considering they're commentating on England matches to primarily English audiences I find that more forgivable.

Of the others they're all much of a muchness, they all say very incisive and illuminating things as well as some pretty daft things as well and a lot of what they say you need to take with a pinch of salt.

I know Botham, Boycott and Willis irritate a lot of people, but that's the individuals themselves - they all have useful things to say and rubbish things to say - you simply have to winnow the trash from the good, they don't bother me generally because I simply reject the rubbish they say.

My favourites are the ones who know what they're talking about regardless of who they are and whilst I don't always agree with everything they say - much of it makes a lot of sense. Hussain and David Lloyd rather spring to mind in that category.

We're all different and look for different things I guess.

Surely Bill Lawry.

"He's got 'im, he's got 'im, he's gone, gone!! Naawww he's dropped him!!! Oh dear."

Yes Bill, Oh dear indeed.

Special mention to Bob Willis, especially the way he has taken to smiling directly at the camera just before an ad break. Chilling.

Here in asia we usually get services of following commentators more than the others
The Worst Trio Sunil Gavaskar(very arrogant and always biased),Aamir Sohail(terrorizes co-commentators-eg: remember Mike Haysman incident 3 years back in lahore), last but not least Navjot Siddu(this fella irritates me more than my mother in law with his biased and contradicting statements + ludicrous analysis of the game ) these three needs to be booted out of all forms of cricket analysis and commentary
The Best Trio-Sanjay Manjrekar(Mostly Unbiased with interesting analysis), Nasser Hussain(very informative and great accent), and the lastly my favorite Ian Chappell(the best of the best with very straight forward in your face commentary with no appeasing of any player or country)
(I had left out ppl like Harsha Bhogle /Ravi Shastri or Alan Wilkinson because there commentary always one sided with no guts to point the mistakes of home team for which they are covering broadcast)
This is just my opinion
