The skipper now removes the dangerous Hussey but Hayden still looking in imperious form. "we" must remain positive IMO. As stated before early breakthroughs against the oz batsman vital; imperative to crowd Clarke before he gets in. Still stacks of batting to come for oz but India fighting back valiantly.

Hayden goes to yet another 100. He really is some player. Well played him; "we" can only hope thats enough for him!! I fear not however. Vital for the sake of the match he does not turn this into a real big one.

Hayden gone. Its 250/5 now. Two more quick wickets will be good.

Yes, I think this is what every fan has wanted for a long time- a contest! I'm Australian, but I really hope India doesn't flop out later in the match. The Indian bowlers are really putting on a little pressure, especially Kumble. Well done to Hayden, who's scored his record 19th century on Australian soil. Anyone who can break a record of Bradman's has to be doing something right.

well, in spite of the wickets, the run rate is touching 4. If this partnership grows, it will take the match away from India.

Five wickets for Kumble. Outstanding bowling.

Indian bowlers have done a marvellous job on the opening day at MCG. If the umpire had given Johnson out to Kumble (a very obvious nick on to the pads which should have been picked up by an umpire at international level), the Australians would have been bowled out for less than 325 on the opening day.

Hats off to Kumble for leading from the front.

Yes, well done Kumble. It is now up to the batsmen to back up his efforts. From the Oz point of view though, they will feel that the decision to include Hogg instead of Tait was the right one. I suspect he will do a lot of bowling along with Clarke and Symonds.
Rachael must be pleased that her favourite player got yet anothet ton. Some bully!

Australia would surely have been better opening with Hussey given the conditions.
Your such astute judge of openers in Australian condition's Rachael.

I was disgusted these two amatuers stumbled and bumbled their way to about 140 runs together.

They are only shadows of the England opening batter's...whatsisname and whoishe
