Good start needed. It is apparent except for Kallis and possibly Amla the openers need to get runs the others cannot recover a bad start.

At 56/4 its very much advantage Windies. It looks like its all down to Kallis now for SA.

The West Indies were wrote off far to early before this match started - they are an erratic side, but with the Windies bowlers you can never tell what will happen.
South Africa 124-4 as I type - Kallis and de Villiers are still there, but with a lot of work still to be done.

A Draw is really not an option IMO - SA have to go for the win.

The problem with the current WI side is consistancy and discipline. They showed in very small patches v England that they had some decent players but they could never play well for more than one session and as soon as things started to go against them their discipline went. It looks here like they've held it together for 3 days now....

Well Kallis did not actually 'go'....he was 'sent' very unfairly. I know about all this "swings and roundabouts" nonsense, but even to an amateur like me that looked nowhere like a dismissal even in real time. An apalling decision which might turn out to make a massive difference.

I think it is high time that available technology is properly used instead of people twiddling their thumbs indecisively on the subject.

8/192 - two wickets to go.

There are three things i most like to see in cricket]

(1) Australia crushing a credible opponent
(2) South Africa copping a hiding
(3)West Indies winning test matches (yes even against the Aussies)

Looks like i might get a rare trifecta here - great way to end the cricketing year

The Windies needed this more than anything else. Now I hope that someone gives them a good pep talk and reminds them to comtinue to play as a team with that little extra effort, while remaining true to their natural Caribbean instincts.

Don't judge a team by one victory. WI have been very poor the last few years. Lets hope this is turning the corner for them but I doubt it.
As for SA this has been a good reminder of the flaws in the side. They will have to have a long hard look at the side with a busy year coming up against top class opposition.

Congratulation West Indies.
