The newspaper said the Australian public had reached a damning verdict on its cricket team in an online poll, with 79 percent of respondents saying it did not play in the true spirit of the game.
In the same poll, 83 percent said Ricky Ponting was not a good ambassador for the game.

The catch was given not out anyway because the umpire deemed it was pad only and had no bat.

This is the kind of typical mis-information getting around out there at the moment bogging down the reconcilliation process.
I've watched the replays in slow motion and Ponting would have known he grounded the ball. Firstly his hand was facing downwards and secondly it hit so hard dirt was flying upwards. It is irrelevant that it wasn't given out as that is not the point here. The point is Ponting knew the ball was grounded but yet he still appealed to try and get the wicket.

What is your problem? All I've done is tried to point out what Channel 9 said this morning? Fine, I thought poll results would be ok but if you don't trust that site try this one.

From another page Kumble: 'Only one team played in the game's spirit' | The Daily Telegraph

Just to make things easier for you look on the right hand side - There are 3 different polls going. Look around
the page and you'll find them - hopefully I don't have to give you step by step instructions on how to find them. Just vote and the results will magically appear... spooky huh

No need to be so Defensive, Chillax Man

No, I found THE polls that Channel 9 were talking about on the morning show and then that night on the late news that you badgered me to show you. Who ever said I craved those results?

Well obviously, otherwise I wouldn't have seen the results.

Interesting take on things by Lawrence Booth

Quote:
Leading British columnist Lawrence Booth criticised India for its handling of the situation in his blog with London's The Guardian newspaper.
"If Harbhajan did indeed call Symonds 'a monkey', India can have no grounds for complaint. And if he did not, they should not have wilfully inflamed the situation by reacting as they have done," Booth wrote.
"No other team in the world could grandstand like this because no other team possesses India's political and financial clout."

Before you get on your high horse pal I can't remember an Indian side to have ever played within the 'spirit of the game'. Indians have always been masters of gamesmanship. Excessive appealing, cheating with catches, has always been the norm.

On a sidenote Wasn't it Michael Vaughan as well before the Ashes who bollocksed Pontings agreement to accept the fielders call on dubious catches?
