| Build a bridge... ... And get other it. I'm getting sick of this forum being overtaken with vindictive comments and racial slurs. Ok so the Indians lost, the Australians won, the umpires were pathetic and Symonds objected to being called a monkey. We all know what happened, it's fine to discuss the merits of players walking, umpires being sanctioned, technology being used more, players overcelebrating, fielders claiming catches, blah blah blah. But do we really need to revert to petty insults and the branding of entire nations i.e all aussies are arrogant cheats and hypocrites, all Indians are spitting the dummy and can't handle the pressure (not my words don't flame me). Some of the posts on this forum the last couple of days have been pathetic, the debate is just going round in circles on several threads with people claiming all sorts of injustices. Look the Aussies did some stuff I don't agree with, the Indians did soem stuff I don't agree with, the umpires did soem stuff I don't agree with but I managed to keep my complaining to a couple of posts after the game and now i'm trying to move on. This forum used to be the home of civilised, mature discussion of cricket related (and non-related) matters and issues. Not since the Darrel Hair episode has this place sunk so low. How about everyone steps back for a second, has a deep breath and tries to keep the commetns out of the gutter. End of sermon. |

| Well i can understand your frustrations sittingduck. But let's be frank, emotions can run high when it comes to test cricket, and the emotions are running even higher than normal after this one. We are only human, not cold machines, thus we feel emotion and need an outlet for it. Yes i could sit down and discuss it with my wife maybe. But she would be bored stiff within 10 seconds (silly game) and i would then be running the risk of having to discuss her feelings. Or even worse, she might ask me to discuss mine. ![]() Screw that - too risky. So i come to WAT. If you can find a cricket forum on the net right now where emotions are not running high, then good luck to you. Bet you cannot find one. A few people have gone a bit far, i agree, but this exceptional circumstances. I i must say that for the most part, the commentary has been heated, yes, but civil and intelligent enough. The rest have been pulled by the mods. Please don't bag this fine forum. Or the members who are trying to let off some steam like normal human beings. The Indians have a right to be aggrieved, no doubt. And the Aussies have a right to be aggrieved about the Indians being aggrieved. But things will cool down eventually. The Aussie and Indian members here will kiss and make up, so to speak, and we will then move on. I have had some cracker debates with members here, sometimes quite heated, but behind the scenes via PM ect, it's all sweet at the end of the day. My message to the Indian members: Guys, i understand how you feel. I was pi$$ed at times during the 2005 ashes for the same reasons you guys are (though i will say before any English interject (SBM) one they deserved to win). And Australia wasn't shafted nearly as badly as you guys were. And i have no doubt that when the dust settles, we will all move on and be friends again.

| Well put "Seamer" I was at the the MCG at surprisingly "bay 13" on the day of Trevor Chappell's under-arm. Looking back I would not begrudge the "Kiwi's" their disgust at that incident. I was utterly disgusted along with Rod Marsh who through his keeping gloves on the ground much like McKechnie through his bat on the ground. But I consider the Indians are blowing what should be in the majority an argument between them and the umpires out of proportions. And twisting it around to an attack on Australia and our integrity. In particular our captains integrity. A good bridge should be built from both sides and meet in the centre. I dont want Australia to be building all of a bridge that India should be helping to build as well. |

If they don't want to help to build that bridge, they can go home as they threaten. See ya |

It takes two to be friendly not one party alone. India need to be proactive on this issue as well !! |

I argue my national team and captain are not lying cheating scum. Or have significant lower moral standards than other world cricketers. They play hard to win, I will admit that. I'm stuffed if I know what I have been slaughtering over the past 48 hours. I have a nationalistic passion and pride for Australia and will not cow-tail to your inconvenience or displeasure about that. My daughter is in her early teens and I have met many of her teeny bopper friends who do not display such precious and pontificating behavioral patterns as you. And thats a big statement for teeny bopper girls. Last edited by acker : 08-01-2008 at 07:48 AM. |
