| my vote.....all cheats!!!! to say that one particular side is fair will be grossly unfair to the others. i go around just this aussie summer and i can lots of nicks...no walking by indian team, australian team. sri lanka appealing against poor rohit sharma when the ball was miles away...in an ideal world all these would be termed unfair. its either 100% fair or just unfair, its just stupid discussing which team is less unfair. the worst thing is that such habits r being inculcated right from grass roots level to international level. the other day i was watching a youtube video to see how pragyan ojha bowls, it was a rajastan vs hyderabad match. he bowls to jadeja and it misses the outside edge not by much though a huge appeal and given out! so this attitude runs in the veins of cricketers and its useless to even discuss!! |

But does that mean they are cheats? I don't think so. Appealing is part of the game, thus appealing can not be considered cheating IMO.

| That's true, Seamer, but there's appealing and then there's appealing. One is acceptable the other is trying to gain an unfair advantage by pressuring the umpire into giving a decision you know to be incorrect. Unfortunately all the teams do this, some more so than others! |

| i know Seamer that appealing for everything is an accepted norm. i hear some quarters say that appealing puts psychological pressure on the batsman. i mean this maybe true for lbw decisions, but a batsman is well aware how much he got away by if its misses the edge. i mean lbw decisions r dicey, its difficult to say whats out and whats not and its entirely upto the umpire so take ur chances on that, i have no problem as long as the umpire is consistent. but those bat pad catches and appeals for nicking the ball when u know its not out counts as unfair. of course all the teams do it. it makes me sad that teams actually resort to coercing an umpire to get a decision their way as Notts says and again its unfair.i guess i'll take back a bit of what i said in my earlier posts and make a distinction between 'cheating' and 'unfair'.... cheating for me now constitutes crimes which are more grave in nature, ball tampering, saying something to players which hits them below the belt etc etc which are rare anyway. | Not sure, I've known certain players go overboard with appealing etc. Personally, I've gone for the Kiwis, purely because I can't think of an incident involving them. Yet.
