I think you might need to look at the amount of times Gilchrist has scored runs with the tail - none of the other batsmen are capable of doing this. With an Australian colapse, set right by a Gilchrest recovery with the tail McGrath has something to bowl too.

Just for the Record Glen McGrath is my second choice for best player in the world.

Sheesh I hate to admit it but its Dravid, Harmison, Symonds (well he's may favourite atleast), Ponting and mmm, Flintoff. Hope to see Sehwag fit in one of these sometime...

Bat - Dravid
Bowl - Mcgrath
All rounder - Gilchrist (batsman/keeper is considered an allrounder position you know)
Fielder - Gibbs

Best player in the world - Gilchrist

If i'm meant to have chosen a bowler/batsman all rounder then i'd go for Kallis, Flintoff might turn one match in a series, but Kallis will be there for every single game, grinding their bowlers down in the middle order and then picking up a crucial breakthrough in the bowling. And would therefore change my best player in the world selection to Dravid.

yes....but we used to always send teams in even if the pitch favored the batsmen....then we would bowl them out for 130-150 and score 590 or something....take Gilchrist out and we score 400 for example.....i think Gilchrist is number two...but as highlighted in the first test.....no one can change a game better than McGrath....and do it more often....he has done it countless times and he lifts the team around him and destroys the team he plays against
