Best Bowling Action.>

Who has the best bowling action you have ever seen, you can pick from the past, or from present day bowlers, I will start the ball rolling with,

Michael Holding, the best ever.
Bishen Bedi, takes the spinner award for me, I have had the luck to have seen him.

I have picked two, pick as many as you like.

I'll think on about the best ern.....

The worst are south africas Paul "frog in a blender" Adams and Paul "horrid left-arm, chest-on spasm" Illott

Both total abominations.

well

The best for fast bowlers in terms of actions will have to be Holding, Caddick , Hadlee , Lillee and Ambrose.

Michael Holding I think was streets ahead of any other bowler in terms of action, he never even looked like he would break into a sweat.

Hadlee he had a good action, maybe second only to Holding.

Edited in PS, I forgot Bedi.

Much more tricky! I would put Holding quite high on the list.

Trueman, Thommo, Kapil Dev, Holding and Imran. I always had a soft spot for Lance Cairns as well!

Of the spinners, Qadir, Bedi and Phil Edmonds stand out for me.

Ian Bishop would have been one of the greats if it hadn't have been for his back injury. The closest to Michael Holding I have seen.

As for economy of action, you can't beat McGrath and Ambrose. Most of the time they did not look like they were trying.

Not the best, but one of the most remarkable actions has to be Wasim Akram... from a short run-up, with a small leap, to be able to generate such pace, bounce and hostility is remarable... getting it all out from the last 2 steps of his action, delivering the ball in a whirl of arms and legs, and getting more out of his wrist than any bowler I have seen...

Technically correct? No... but aesthetically pleasing in its own way, and damn effective in every way!

On a purely technical viewpoint, would go for Holding, no comparison amongst fast bowlers really... though a personal favourite is Waqar, for the long run up, the galloping strides and the smooth delivery...

I seem to remember an England player with a decent run up, and action.

D Underwood, was a little faster than most SLA bowlers, and his run up was a little longer, I am remembering him, he was a pleasure to watch, mind you everything about the guy, was a pleasure to watch.

Ern
