| I think to be fair it was a great bowl and the commentaters were suggesting that Styris can walk away knowing he is in form because he actually hit it.Perfect length, great bounce It moved perfectly, not too far, just enough. |

| Lehman drops Astle. He should have caught it really. Astle tried to pull McGrath and Skyed it.

| Astle dropped again by Kaspa. Down the ground this time of Warne.

| Astle runs out of lives. Run out by a mile. Brilliant direct hit from Clarke.

| Sinclair gone. Caught Ponting bowled Gillespie. Went to the third umpire because they we'rnt sure if it hit the ground first. Sinclair always looked jittery and played a not so good shot but also good bowling. NZ 5/138

| NZ 5/142 at tea. All in all it's been a preety poor effort by the Kiwi's. The batting has been contained and the chances given via poor fielding have not been siezed upon. NZ have looked a bit out of their depth really.

| This is basicly my argument for why I think we are still the best team in the world. Any bowling attack is going to struggle under the preasure of attacking batsmen. The thing is with the English team you have a chance to do that if Harmsion or Flintoff e.c.t struggle in the first few overs. Australia on the other hand are, even on a not so good day, right on the money from the start and the only way to get on top of the bowling is to attack good bowls and thus risk getting out. So to take on the bowlers is really a risk that not many batsmen are good enough to achive in.

| Stumps, Day 1: New Zealand 7 for 250 (Oram 63*, Vettori 13*) After winning the toss NZ probabally would have hoped for a better day than that, but credit to Australia, and Casper in particular, from the looks of things it seems that all the bowlers bowled well without being spectacular. All is not over though for NZ, Vettori can be a real stubborn customer with the bat (ask me: I was up watching him smash his maiden test hundred last year) and Oram too has test 100s to his name as well, these guys can bat for sure. If they can extend their partnership (which currently is at 44) to something in the region of 100 runs Australia wil have a sterner task on their hands when they come out to bat. All the same 3 quick wickets tomorrow morning might well mean Australia will only bat once, anything less than 350 on that pitch is simply not going to be enough for a first innings total. ps: what's the big idea behind the new blazer Ponting was seen wearing this morning at the toss, I thought the older one looked way, way cooler.
