LOL - fine point.

Smon Jones has shown he can bowl to non batsmen yet again (whoop-de-doo.. he can get out the likes of Fraser, Malcolm and Tufnel).. and the bowling would seem, in general, to have been tighter today.. but the news from the warm up game gets ever worse from Fletcher's point of view: his protege, Trescothick, lasted just 5 balls... and Strauss has followed without troubling the scorers.

update: Butcher gone as well: that's 3/3 at tea... with England trailing by 53 runs - great start to the tour :-)

SA A set 135 to win

Century to Michael Vaughan, next highest scorer - it's that man GO Jones again! Have we done enough to scrape an ill-deserved victory out of this one? I don't think so.

South Africa A are 34 runs shy of the target with seven wickets remaining and it is pouring down.

SA A win by 7 wickets. Looks as though Simon Jones lost interest in the rain break - 21 runs off his last over. Well, fellahs, you've got a few hours to spare now and the sun is shining. What about playing some cricket?

Did you notice the nice accurate line the bowlers were maintaining outside the off stump:
