| Thank you RBLC, that is exactly what I was saying. The point is not that there are a whole load of Malcolm Marshall and Everton Weekes standard black players and they are kept out by sinister men in white coats; the point is that even though England has a large black population, and black youngster enjoy sport, and excel in most professional sports (footall, atheletics, rugby, etc), there are hardly in cricket. Why? Cricket has a much great heritage amongst Britain's African people than football or basketball, many of the immigrants grew up watching Sobers and the 3 W's in the Caribbean, and during the 80s, there was a long list of promising black cricketers. Where have they gone now? And why is it that today there are hardly any African-British people who are decent cricketers?

| maybe the 'coloured' players would prefer to play for their 'motherland' so to speak. i mean the windies keeper, browne i think, was born in england wasnt he, so im sure he would have been eligible to play for england, instead he wanted to play for the windies. well south africa have Ntini, they have an indian (Amla), in the first test their keeper was also 'black' |

| Darryl Tuffey is a player of Maori decent. However, most New Zealanders would claim to have an amount of Maori blood somewhere in their ancestry - judging on my experiences over in NZ. Rahul - do you mean Thami Tsolikili. Also, South Africa had Mondi Zondeki (med-fast bowler) on their last tour to the UK. Herchelle Gibbs counts as 'Cape Coloured' under their quota system, as I understand it. |

| Jason Gillespie is theThe great-grandson of a Kamilaroi warrior, Gillespie occupies a significant niche in Australian history as the first acknowledged Aboriginal Test cricketer.

| Look my family is a mix of races, Afro-Carib and White and I hadn't even noticed. Geriant Jones could have played for Papua New Guinea, Strauss could have been an aussie and before that Hick - Zimbabwe Caddick - NZ Hussain - India... Most of the kids seem to play football these days. What % of the population is "non-white"? If it is less than 10% you wouldn't necessarily expect any in the team. How many white players in the West Indies team?, how about the Indian or Pakistan team? BTW don't the Aussies have one player on the fringe who is mixed race? |

As to Courtney Brown, didn't his parents move back to the West Indies when he was still a kid? |

| but the population of coloured people in england, windies, SA etc etc, far exceeds the population of whites in the carribbean, india and pakistan and bangladesh. the reason why so many black youngsters dont play cricket anymore, same with many asians is many are more interested in other sports. its as simple as that.... everyone knows the interest in cricket is on a decline in my generation.... |
