They use to bowl 15 an over easily back some time, I don't know what has suddently has gone wrong, 6 day test can't be the answer, you just have to apply more pressure on the players by means of strict rule application, umpires need to get brave and start awarding penalty runs as soon as they think there is any case of deliberate time wasting, which there often is quite clearly, players are right now just down right lazy, when they want to I have seen Pakistan bowling at 14 and a half with Shoaib bowling with a 40 metre run up, we just need to get strict, that's all, I'm sure if teams are made to realise it could affect wining or losing (penalty runs would do that) they will get their acts sorted out quickly.

What about rain?

Penalty runs might fix slow over rates (particularly if it is 10 an over), but what about play lost due to rain. Look at the current test between Eng/Sth Afr. The first day of play was lost due to rain. It kills the game unless the captain attempt to contrive a result, which England won,t do becuase they lead 2-1 in th series. Just watching this game at the moment, i can only lament that we do not have another days play tomorrow. There would be a good chance of a legitamate result. I am not saying we need six days, rather a reserve day the ensure the full 450 overs of the test is bowled. Surely any cricket lover that enjoys results rather than boring draws would agree?

Number of matches that are affected by rain in the way this 5th test has been Seamer really isn't that big - I can't remember exact figures but I once read somewhere that most test matches in the last 5 years or so that have ended as no result b/c of entires day of play being washed out was fairly small.

Hmmm. I will have to take your word on that one. Why is the Australia vs rest of the world a six day test?

I don't know Seamer. May be its because they kind off want to make sure it has a result.

I meant that they probably didn't want to risk such a high profiel test not having a result, when is that test match anyway, and where is it, in SA if I'm not wrong?
