| I don't think six day tests make much sense these days. The Eng v SA series has perhaps been a bit unusual - seems to me that most tests are completed inside the distance nowadays. Six day matches would not be new thing, however. Once upon a time the last test in a series, if the series was still undecided at that stage, would have an extra day added on. (Someone is bound to ask when, and the answer is that I don't know, but I think Benaud played in some six day games if my memory of his autobioraphy serves me well, so we are probably looking at the late fifties or early sixties.) And an extra day at Centurion would certainly have been a good thing for England. But overall, I'm not convinced that this is the way to deal with the slow over rate problem - far from fixing the problem, it would perpetuate it.
