| I heard that some of the so called "Rebel Players" will be back by then. Can anyone confirm if this true? It will be hard tfor Zimbabwe to win in SA, but you would never know. |
| ||||
| No they will not be unfortunately. Perhaps if this dispute is sorted out MIGHTY quickly, one or two matchfit (E.g Heath Streak, Andy Blignaut) could be rushed over. |
| ||||
| I heard Heath Streak could not play even if he wanted to because he has signed a Kolpak Contract with Warwickshire. Kolpak contracts in the UK insist on the player not playing international cricket for their home country any more. This would mean that Price, Streak, Ervine, Friend and the Flowers who are all contracted to counties on Kolpak agreements could not play for Zimbabwe without (i) The county allowing them to cancel their contract (ii) Having to pay a significant brreach of contract fine for not adhering to the terms of their employment! Sorry for the bad news Zimbo fans! |

| Actually, Andy, I was quite adamant Streak wasn't on a Kolpak agreement. Anyhow, Flower and Price are willing to terminate their contracts to play for Zimbabwe. |
| ||||
| Fair enough - you may be right about Streak. But if Flower and Price want to cancel their contracts, who will pick up the bill? I'm sure they wouldn't have been allowed to sign a contract saying that they'll sign a Kolpak deal and not play for Zimbabwe until they want to play for Zimbabwe?!? That doesn't make any sense! I'm also guessing that you meant Grant Flower. |

| Easterns/Northerns v Zimbabweans, Benoni, 3rd day Weather and Williams help Zimbabweans cling on Cricinfo staff February 20, 2005 Zimbabweans 206 and 193 for 8 (Williams 53*, Morkel 5-47) lead Combined Easterns/Northerns XI 275 by 124 runs Scorecard Only a combination of poor weather and dogged batting from Sean Williams took this match into a fourth day as the Zimbabweans ended the third day of their tour match against the Easterns/Northerns XI at Willowmoore Park in Benoni facing probable defeat. Play did not start until midway through the afternoon session, and even then only 21.1 overs were bowled before bad light came to the Zimbabweans rescue. In that time they took their total from an overnight 138 for 6 to 193 for 8, a lead of 124, thanks to Williams's unbeaten 53. Much depended on Tatenda Taibu, but he had added just two to his overnight 21 in almost an hour when he became Morne Morkel's fifth victim of the innings. Prosper Utseya hung around to give Williams support, but in the over before the premature finish he fell to slow left-armer Paul Harris for 9. |
