| Gilchrist (By a fair margin) Sangakkara (Also by a fair margin) Taibu (has made the most of his abilities so far) Boucher (Still Respectable) Kamran (Brilliant bat, and also not a bad keeper) |

| Well Gilchrist is way out ahead in terms of batting and keeping. Sangakarra is a close second, mainly due to his brilliant batting although he is not a bad keeper as well. I would put Taibu a distant third behind them two and then the rest- Boucher, Mccullum and G.Jones you can't really seperate as they are both decent enough batsman but very shaky with the gloves. |

| Ridley top scored for the Leewards against Barbados the other day, making 70 out of 195 in the first and 105 second up (against Collymore, Edward and Collins). He also took 6 catches and a stumping in the win. I'd like to see him back for the West Indies - as far as I'm aware, he hasn't retired. |

| My opinion. Gilchrist , in purely keeping terms, is the third best in Australia behind Haddin and Seccombe. It is his batting that makes him such a good keeper. I am not saying he is,nt a fine keeper in his own right, but the other two have a better technique. Hadden is a very good bat as well and will make an excellent replacement for Gilly when the time comes.

| Haddin's keeping has never really impressed me. I think Gilly is a better, more athletic keeper than he is.

| Matter of opinion i suppose. In any case, Gilly will keep his spot for as long as he wants it

I'm not saying Haddin is good or bad... as I've no idea.. I'm just suggesting that athleticism would be a poor basis for judging the guy. Bit like batting and bowling: guys like Robin Smith (very dynamic) and Tino Best (ditto) have an energetic and athletic look to them.. but the coaches always seem to single out those guys who seem to be doing what they do almost in their sleep (Inzi is surely the classic: hardly seems to move at all... minimal backlift... barely discernable foot movement.. and yet invariably in position with his head still, his eyes level and bat ready to make late adjustments; one hears the same of certain bowlers: coaches note they hardly seem to be trying.. that they just trot up and out it comes.. and the batsmen find to their cost that it often comes out deceptively quickly or that huge variations are almost indiscernable). |
