I wouldn't swap Englands first two slips for any other fielders in the world: Tresco and Flintoff. Both amazing catchers and Collingwood is certainly one of the best.

Strauss looks pretty handy in at 2/3 slip too. I think the current English slip cordon is the best we've had for a few years, Trescothick, Flintoff and Strauss are all really good slippers, people like Thorpe and Butcher who have been in there over the past few seasons are really only 50%-ers. Tresco has really improved and never drops them!

There is no way you can go past Symsy. He can field anywhere. Johnty Rhodes was also a great fielder. He cemented his place in the South African team due to his fielding.

Collingwood, Hamish and James Marshall, Inzamam (im kidding)

best catch of the last year or so though would have to be Matthew Sinclairs catch of Hayden at the end of last year. but now Collingwoods catch is right up its ass

Among the current cricketers, the 5 best fielders are Kaif,Gibbs,Ponting,Yuvraj and Collingwood.(not in order).

True.. He started off poorly IMO making a few fumbles but we couldn't blame him because of the amount of runs he scored! But now hes really getting some great catches.

V. Solanki apparently has a good reputation as a fielder

Agree with Mr Kiwi, the Marshalls in particular Hamish has impressed me. I think Ponting and Gibbs are as close to the best around also

The best first slipper ever: Mark Waugh. IMO, he is the best fielder as well. None of the fuss that Jonty Rhodes used to create. No unnecessary diving around for nothing. Just plain good fielding sense. Correct palm positioning and great atheliticism. This guy was the most economic fielder I have seen.

He took the best slip catch I've seen. Alec Stewart middled a very late cut, and Waugh dived full stretch to take it one handed. It was really smashed, so he did well to even reach it. Phenomenal catcher. Away from the slips, I have to say Rhodes was the best. I think I saw him misfield twice ... ever. And even then most people wouldn't have even reached the ball. No-one took on Rhodes for a single, and he cut out endless boundaries, probably worth about 20 runs per innings to SA.
