I think a positive to maybe take into the Ashes is the fact that there appeared to be no aggression towards opposition player from either side in the Natwest Final yesterday. From what I heard it was played in as good a spirit as can be expected from the arch-rivals.

Let's hope this spirit can be taken into the test series, without loss of greatly competitive cricket of course.

I never thought the series was going to degenerate to that myself. Matty Hayden gives it out on the field and as a result will get it back in return. The Jones Throw-back was an accident, as was the Lee beamer to Tresco. The only difference was Tresco took it like a man and Haydos did'nt and over-reacted. Collywood should have stayed out of it too but at the end of the day, it was all water under the bridge and everything was back to normal the next game -competitive rivalry but nothing more

Pietersen fair enough but Jones has Welsh roots,Some of our finest former players were not born in this country but had English parents so should they have played for India,Australia and others!!!!!

Would you accept Nasser Hussain's baby born on the last tour as an Aussie? I think not.

Sorry to be pedantic. While i have no problems with you accusing Australians of arrogance if deserved, it would be best to wait until an arrogant comment is made
ARROGANT:
Having or displaying a sense of overbearing self-worth or self-importance.contempt for the weak.Marked by or arising from a feeling or assumption of one's superiority toward others:

While i concede davo's comment to be denigrating to Pietesen and Strauss, it is not arrogance. While most Australians on this forum are confident of an Ashes victory, we are certainly not underestimating the strongest team England has produced in a generation. This contest will be a closely fought contest between two quality teams

Oh please - Jones could barely walk when his BRITISH parents left PNG.

Fair do's - perhaps DELIBERATELY PROVOCOTIVE would be the best description for his post, and as usual some of us bite!

Glad to hear you think it will be a close series, and that you claim the Aussies have some respect for our side. Without trawling back through all of the threads, I think it's fair to say that there were some mildly derogatory comments from some of our Aussie contributors about the quality of the English side and individual players that could have been verging on arrogant. However, that was before all of the one-day games, and I'm sure could also be put down to the dry Aussie wit!

Ohh no TTFC. England are still going to get canned in the tests . Provided Gillespie fires or they replace him.
