The topic of the thread is "Best Sight In The Game".

ot who is the most effective, brilliant or best player.

Afridi in full cry is a sight to behold and has nothing to do with averages etc..

As a sight he far exceeds Kallis or Vaughan.

Good point. I thought that Gayle sparring with Harmison in the series in ENG in 2004 was fantastic cricket - top quality fast bowling meets top quality "hand-eye" type batting! Exhilarating stuff!

The point i was making is that he may be a great sight to watch, but you don't get to see it very often. He could still be a desructive player if he calmed down a touch and used better shot selection.Look at Pietersen's effectiveness in his short time in International cricket,he builds his innings, waits till he is set and then unleashes.Afridi would be more use and win more matches if he followed a similar route.

Ricky Ponting's innings in the World Cup Final was a classic example of what i am on about.

Be very interesting if Woolmer can turn Afridi into a hitter like Klusener who wins matches.

Yep

I agree with you about the consistency. Infact, around the 2003 world cup I wanted to kill the man for being so inconsistent. But every since woolmer has come to the Pakistani team Afridi is averaging well over 30 in the one dayers and almost 40 in the test matches. And if I'm correct, his strike rate in One day matches for the last 1 and a half year, is almost 150 if not above.

As for Kallis, you can't really compare anyone with him. He's on another Class, he's a world class batsman who can bowl as well as a good third seamer on his day

Just watching the Natwest series final of 2002 and it reminded me of something I love seeing in the game... Tresco smashing the bowlers through the covers...

Vaughans pull shot can be beautiful at time so thats a close second. I also like to see the bowlers uproot the middle stump.. A lovely sight to see except against England.

Good test match cricket, whoever is playing. Be it Gilchrist taking the game away from the opposition in a session, Murali tying opposition players in knots, or a cat and mouse game between two good batsmen and two good bowlers. Hopefully the Ashes offers some of this (odds against Murali featuring are reasonably high). I feel like a little kid. One more sleep before Christmas...

I couldn't agree more. I go to a cricket chat room and the Pakistani's there are always raving about him. My view is that if he can't play at Test level then he doesn't rate. And he can't!

1. Sachin Tendulkar on fire.....i remember one over he got 14 off a McGrath over...... his Square cuts over third man for 6 are just awesome to watch

2. Adam Gilchrist fighting Australia out of a hole......i remember Hobart v Pakistan when he made 153 when he came in with Langer we were 5- not many and he saved our innings, and one 100 run partnership with McGrath of which McGraths contribution was one run

3. While i used to love watching Mark Waugh in full flight, i loved watching Michael Clarke obliterate bowling attacks last year......he treated some class bowlers with absolute distain, hopefully he can get back to that that form....i know england arent hoping that
