Englander? What sort of nationality is that?

I was thinking earlier as I was watching the second Ashes test, what about the wind blowing through Hoggard's shaggy hair-do as he runs in to bowl a bat-beating beautiful out-swinger of perfect line and length.

A few years ago the best sight in Cricket was Robin Smith butchering the ball with that wicked square cut of his, then you have Jonty Rhodes unbelievable fielding abilities, shame he retired, SA will surely miss him. Now the best sight in cricket is watching Steve Harmison rough up some of the best batsmen in the world.

Ricky Ponting's pull shot is absolutely glorious, Ian Botham, Brian Lara and Viv Richards at there brutal best is and was great memories. Shane Warne's disception is also a very special moment(thats his cricketing disception!)

For me an australia team forced to place every man on the boundary - when the quickest bowler in the world is bowling at the No.7 and No.11 with him and then seeing it sail out of the ground and the Bowlers rueful smile

If not that Warne anything to do with him - bowling batting - 2 delightful 100's this year and 2 big sixes off the King of Spain

Red face new sight

Strauss getting bowled by Warne. Now I am someone who thinks Warne's delivery to get Gattling was overrated, I've seen other spinners produce better. But this dismissal was simply hilarious. All the fuss about Strauss's technique, determination, etc. and you see him get bowled like a complete *@#@(.

Definately one of the sights of the summer

Just found this thread - interesting one! For me the top five players to watch (from my lifetime) would be:

Vaughan
Lara
Viv Richards
Imran (bowling)
Warne

Not because they're necessarily the best or even the most elegant, but because there's something indefinably joyous and life-affirming about their play when they're on song. Vaughan played a clip through square leg at Old Trafford - an excellent though unspectacular shot on the face of it - which made me laugh out loud!

It's hard to describe, but I think it's something to do with when a technically excellent player is in such harmony with their environment that they can combine technique and improvisation at a purely instinctive level. When the game ceases to be a contest and becomes a form of self-expression.

Interesitng posts here. Here are some moments that I cant forget:

1. Sachin hitting Shoaib for a six over thirdman in last world cup. ICC called that the moment of the year.
2. Allan Donald getting run out in the world cup semi final against Australia when the score was tied.
3. Shoaib Akhtar getting Sachin out first ball in a test match with a super fast delivery. That was the first time sachin faced Shoaib.
4. Inzamam Ul-haq found in the stands with a bat in toronto trying to beat up someone who called him aloo (patato). I am a fan of Inzi no doubt, it was really funny.
5. Jhonty rhodes flying with the ball for run outs.
6. Slater abusing Dravid along with Ponting in the mid of the field when a decision was given in favor of the Indian.
