Exclamation Let's sum it up by years

Pre 1990 - Viv Richards smacking the crap out of bowlers
1990-1994- Waqar Younis in full flow
1994-1997- Lara in full flow
1997-2000- Wasim Akram taking magic to new heights/Sachin getting in the groove
2000-2002- Sachin harassing Aussies/Shoaib steaming in
2002-2003- Ponting's dominance
2003-2005- Inzy and Lara playing some unbelievable innings/Flintoff kicking ass
2005-2007- I guess Inzy, Lara, Peterson, Afridi, Sehwag and Gayle will be the real sights

What about Gilchrist when he is in full flight? Like 121 not out off 81 balls??????

Great sight for Aussies. Not for us Englanders though.

I don't get the obsession with Afridi. He averages 24 in over 200 1 day matches and 35 in 19 tests. That is an appauling record and does not show me a class player. He gives his wicket away far too easily. Not in the same class as the others mentioned.

I always loved King Curtleys celebrations - lovely sight!

But the moments for me are when a seamer gets the slower one just right...... You know what I mean - when the batsman gets through the shot early and has JUST enough time to realise he has done so before the ball lobs to mid-off or clatters into the woodwork.......that panicked look in the eye.......the huge grin on the bowlers face..... When everyone present knows the batter has been well and truely done!

Cairns was great at delivering these, Gough wasn't bad either, but the best of them all was the big looping donkey-dropper Walsh got Thorpe LBW with a few years ago!

Afridi

He;s the most exciting player per minute in the 150 history of international cricket. Enough said. He also has the two fastest centuries in the history of the game, the best strike rate in the history of the game, the fastest delivery a spinner has ever bowled and the only batsman of any note in the current game who will attack the BOWLER AT EVERY BOWL IN ANY CONDITION AND ANY SITUATION. When you do that and can maintain a 25 One day average, your good enough for me. Remember, his game is totally different from Sehwag and Gilchrist. It's not attacking aggressively but it's actually attacking like a madman...fantastic to watch, especially because he's the strongest man in the game today

And I'll rather average 25 with a strike rate of 108 then average 27 with a strike rate of about 65 (Vaughan)
