For the record I'm with Microshocker
Your always one for just causing controvesary .. However i agree that we should be more civil in response because I've realised its all banter at the end of the day and its an opinion. Vaughan can prove him wrong this summer hopefully! I do doubt his ability as an ODI player however theres no way he should be dropped against the Aussies as he defeated them in a personal battle last series

well you haven't really got an opinion though have you, you're just spouting drivel.

it's entirely possible to be critical of the current team without making pointless blanket statements like they're "crap", clearly they're not "crap" or they wouldn't have won so many test series recently.

hehe.. This is a first class post... VF said it all really...

We are open to opinions on these players and the England set-up but say it with some logic and sense. Your screen name suggests something..

But please.. explain why these three players are 'crap' with the two batsmen having averages over 40... and Giles being a great spinner whos also strong with the bat as well!

Is Vaughn deserving of a spot when there are players who ar'nt getting a go but could probebly be sucsessfull at the highest level. Have Tresco as your captain.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo ooooooooooooooooooo!

Vaughny's fine for the tests and will rise to the occasion. Am I the only one not convinced by Tresco's captaincy?

Hang on a minute Beny, you got me there didn't you! It's the old Aussie trick of bigging up or shooting down a player to get them selected / dropped isn't it?

Let me gues, you think Ramprakash could come again, you don't understand why Cork and Batty are not in the side, and there's always a place in the test team for a man with Ronnie Irani's spunk!

You crafty fox.

Perhaps 'crap' means 'really rather promising' in Plymouth?

I'd say his test average dissagrees with you TTFC.

Someone shoot me for reading these forums!

In the past 3-4 weeks I have read loads of threads dedicated to coming up with terrible reaons to drop every English player. It's getting ridiculous. I believe it's mainly tounge-in-cheek to provoke a reaction.

Vaughan on form is our heaviest run-scorer. The Aussies wll have some respect for him and will start to worry if he gets in a groove. Since the last Ashes series, he's pretty much been captain (26 matches) and has scored about 1,500 runs @ 39 (approx), including 7 50's and 5 100's, in that time.

I'm not bothered whether people want him to be dropped. We all have seen him rip sides apart with his batting, Australia a little too closely for their liking. As a captain he has an amazing record in terms of winning matches as well as a decent batting record to go alongside. He's the best captain in the world currently and has a massive amount of wins and runs still in him. Whether we win the Ashes or not, he'll still be there for years hopefully. He's taken England to a new level and with him we have the players and the newer players coming to can stay there for the next 4-5 years.

I see Vaughan as potentially becoming the next Steve Waugh and the team around him becoming the Australia side of late (with a few differences of course). This might not happen, but Vaughan is the best guy to do it if it will.

When was the last time he was on form?

I dont know Lemming... Steve was already a world renowned and proven batsmen by this time. Vaughn is far behind.

The reason my reply may have been a bit harsh was that this thread was posted in the England section when it is quite clear Microshocker is just wanting to start arguments.

We shall see whether Vaughan is good enough over the next few months and Microshocker better hope he is right or he will have massive amounts of humble pie to eat.
