Cool

We can either have arguments or we can start the "You are a great thinker, What a post!" crap. The fact that someone thinks Giles is a "great" spinner proves that there is a serious problem here. Ask Geoffrey Boycott and he'll tell you how great a bowler giles is.

As far as the thought process behind this post is concerned...

It is my PERSONAL opinion that any team should not include players which will not bear fruit in the future. Many of you feel Vaughan is going to be great future batsman, But I KNOW that will not happen. I am a GREAT JUDGE of MAN, just like Imran Khan and I tell you what, the best of Vaughan is over, and those 14 hundreds are pretty much symbols of overachievement. And as far as bearing fruit is concerned,

Here are some players you may call great, good, whatever but I think you should drop them from their respective international sides and bring in newer talent:Younis Khan, Rana Naveed, Porky from England, Shane Watson, Hayden, Ganguly, Gough, All of the west indian fast bowlers bar collymore and edwards, Jacque Rudolph.

Everyone has a different GENERAL view of cricket. Mines is that a team should look to improve itself continuously and players who are only good in ONE FORM of the game and are not GREAT players. That's why I dont rate bevan, younis khan, vaughan anywhere near the best

And when you say "suck" it doesnt mean they suck. How can anyone suck? If anyone really sucked, they wouldnt be playin first class cricket. Suck is a shortcut to saying "overachieving, overrated, doesn't deserve it".

The truth is, no matter how hard those english commentators try, Giles and Vaughan are ugly to watch and extremely overrated.

Yep, I know how shocking it may seem to you, but I'll just like to say we're not all like that. I've never been a big fan of the current Australian team but may GOD bless the Australian middle order batsman so they can send giles out of international cricket before the Pakistan tour. If only there was a way of getting rid of the likes of giles, peterson, and boje. They bring such bad reputation to the game

You're only saying that because you're afraid that Giles will give you another mauling like the last time he was in Pakistan.

Why is that? Are Pakistan scared? Is it because the last time Giles was bowling in Pakistan, he performed as well as any of their spinners, and played a major role in our series victory there?

Giles in Pakistan, 2000/01:

Matches: 3
Innings: 3
Runs: 56 @ 28.00
Wickets: 17 @ 24.11
Best Bowling: 5-75

I remember him bowling Inzamam, then the "fat-potato" proceeded to do his usual trick and take about five minutes to walk back to the pavillion in a childish - and rather unprofessional - protest.

Yeah, he led Inzy a merry dance the last time they played eachother in Pakistan. I seem to remember Giles bowling him on 3 occasions on that tour.

For godsake even Sachin Tendulkar and Saurav Ganguly has had five wicket hauls against Pakistan, so I dont know what your bragging abut. And about Inzy being bowled by Giles: Every dog has his day lemming....every dog has his day.

And actually which breed is giles? Poodle.

Exclamation Thread Closed

The personal jibes, national stereo-types and insults at the person (as opposed to the sporting ability) of international cricketers are not something we encourage on WAT. I am temporarily closing this thread, whilst this matter is considered by the moderating/admin team.

I believe such remarks do not constitute good-natured banter, and certainly do not help promote thoughtful cricket debate, which is what we try to do at WAT. If any of you have concerns about this action, please feel free to raise these with me in a PM.
