All I hope is the series captures Newbolts poem.

There's a breathless hush in the close tonight

Ten to make and the match to win

A bumping pitch and a blinding light,

An hour to play and the last man in.

Tomorrow's meant to be Sunny and 25 DegreesC. Pitch at Lords will no doubt be flat.

we can do it. and even if we don't, i think we can content ourselves that God is giving the Austrlaians sport as a compensation for being on the wrong side of the world in a country where nothing ever happens - but sport.

England expects every man to do his duty - even if they're South African. The aussies pour scorn on the fact we take people form dxdifferent countries into our team. The y justr don't underestand that's the way of life in england. Anyone who wants to be English can be.

Roll on tomorrow. I can't wait. This is the biggest test series in cricket since Bodyline. Bigger than anything I can remember. Can any series have had so much written about it for so long?

Quite right who in their right mind would choose to be Australian ... You only have to go to Earls Court to realise how many of them want to leave as quickly as possible...

important note: Can I just say that from a sartorial point of view, the australians appear to look like an eighties revival band. Flock of Seagulls or maybe Kajagoogoo. My wife is appalled by their eighties-style corner shop haridresser highlights. And I am concerned they are making the game a laughing stock. Someone should mention that fashion has moved on a little. And highlights in hair have become a little more subtle. Perhaps the Lords crowd should not forget to mention it to their fielders.

It almost makes Gillespie look like he's got style.
