I'm not sure.. Some of the stuff Ern comes out with sounds like he's on some sort of LSD trip. So it must be pretty fun

Ernest, you must wear the tag of the greatest optimist in English society (oh Sorry French Society).

You not only wear blinkers, rose coloured glasses and any other saying about an optimistic support I can not think of at the moment. But you just will not see that any team can be better than England - damn you must be an Aussie.

I shan't comment on the French connection, or I shall get depressed.
Thingis we have been in the shadows of other teams for so long, until the Windies series, I at last smell a chance of a series win against Australia, It can be done, "must be an Aussie", that's why I like 4 XXXXs?.

Now Pete theory is wrong, and so is Lemmings, a pessimist is depressed all the time, even allowing for the odd surprise, where their not.
An optimist is not depressed until after the fat lady sings, so an optimist is going to be the less depressed, due to his/her ongoing optimism. .

The Ashes First Test Lords Thursday 21st July..Day 3

Aus well on top. Nice from Eng point of view to hear Dizzy groaning so much. We can do with saving the finger-breaking deliveries for McGrath. Right hand index finger will do.

Morning everyone, well if Ern has got rose tinted glasses I guess I must have black tinted ones this morning!

The Channel 4 team have obviously been talking up the chase but Australia had enough runs last night, we'll be lucky to get 220. The only thing I would say is that the pitch appears to have deadened again today and there's no seam movement with the new ball, but as Lemming said, we haven't seen McGrath on it to judge.

I'm away with my girlfriend for the weekend but I think I would only miss an Aussie celebration tommorrow sometime. How I would love to be wrong!

This is s*** bowling. Up to now England have performed well. This morning they being exposed.
Tony Grieg was questioning Hoggard's place in the side. You see this is why I didn't back England because Hoggard bowled well against SA. As an SA supporter I knew a number of the SA batsmen were flawed so I thought be careful about how good Hoggard is.

Sorry Ern, completely missed the fact you'd started this thread yesterday.

England have got ragged. This is where we need to be mentally strong and keep our discipline, as the game isn't over yet.

Oz lead by 376. Gillespie has just been bowled, but do you reckon England can still get this Mongoose?

Does anyone know why Harmison isn't bowling to McGrath's head?
