| While England were heavily defeated at Lords, there were still positive aspects of their game that will give them some confidence.
Firstly, Australia were not on top the entire game. At the conclusion of Englands first innings, the game was pretty even.
While England fielded poorly, it was not as if they always field that badly. Up until that match, they have been excellent in the field, and anyone who has watched them play in the last 12 months will appreciate that the effort they put in at Lords was - Un English.
Harmison, Jones and Flintoff will enter the second test with confidence. While Jones was wayward at times, he bowled some absolute jaffas and was unlucky to not take more wickets. Flintoff was able to maintain pressure with the ball, and Harmison, while a little loose at times, has the pace to trouble the Aussies on any wicket
The English batsmen will be glad to show their wares in (hopefully) better batting conditions and the dramatic batting colapses at Lord's will be unlikely to be repeated.
On the Aussie side, the two players under pressure performed. Gillespie, while failing to get a wicket, looked the best he has all tour, and Clarkes 91 came at the perfect time. Now, all 11 have some form under the belt, and that does not bode well for the English cause.
All in all though, this game should be another cracker and will ebb and flow between the two teams. Big call for England to turn this around, but they have a good team spirit and recent success undertheir belt, so i predict a good game that will go to the fifth day.
