I dont think you'll win all the tests, we'll win at least one (probably a dead rubber) and force a draw in another.

England will win the next test. As a result they will belive themselves the best team in the world (again ) , they will hail their players as saints, hero's and god's. The tabloids will portray the Aussies as useless old buggers... until they are cut back down to size for the rest of the series.

While England were heavily defeated at Lords, there were still positive aspects of their game that will give them some confidence.
Firstly, Australia were not on top the entire game. At the conclusion of Englands first innings, the game was pretty even.
While England fielded poorly, it was not as if they always field that badly. Up until that match, they have been excellent in the field, and anyone who has watched them play in the last 12 months will appreciate that the effort they put in at Lords was - Un English.
Harmison, Jones and Flintoff will enter the second test with confidence. While Jones was wayward at times, he bowled some absolute jaffas and was unlucky to not take more wickets. Flintoff was able to maintain pressure with the ball, and Harmison, while a little loose at times, has the pace to trouble the Aussies on any wicket
The English batsmen will be glad to show their wares in (hopefully) better batting conditions and the dramatic batting colapses at Lord's will be unlikely to be repeated.
On the Aussie side, the two players under pressure performed. Gillespie, while failing to get a wicket, looked the best he has all tour, and Clarkes 91 came at the perfect time. Now, all 11 have some form under the belt, and that does not bode well for the English cause.
All in all though, this game should be another cracker and will ebb and flow between the two teams. Big call for England to turn this around, but they have a good team spirit and recent success undertheir belt, so i predict a good game that will go to the fifth day.

who knows, just like in the series against india, the australians were forced to compete and up their game, until the last section of the game when we capitulated meekly and made it look like an easy win for them.

As usual with an england v australia game, the english are left with a load of "what if's", if we'd only got 20 australians out instead of the 28 we eventually got out, maybe it would have been different, if we hadn't faced the genius of mcgrath in the first innings, tearing our top order, but more importantly our soul out, we might have had a stronger position.

The reason for the what if's though is that australia are too good a side to let back into a game, they don't just get back in they get back in and destroy you. Several times we let the kiwis, the windies and the saffers back into the game, but we then turned it round on them and dragged ourselves back in and again achieved dominance in the last section of the game to make a tight victory appear like a walkover. I still think we're a worthy second best, and i still think we can make the step up, it just takes time and effort, unfortunately in vaughan we have someone that's not the kind to set an example on putting effort in, having decided to have a net session instead of a game between the tests.. why not do both? not like he's tired.

I agree with the last two posts. England were competitive in the first test match for the mostpart. There are positives for them and some people are overreacting a bit.

England have too many sloppy sessions over the 5 days, as VF says you can get away with that against other teams but the Aussies will murder you.

The Aussies are not unbeatable at all, they are the weakest I have seen them in some time but England need about 6 or 7 of their players to be in top form to beat them.

it is worth noting that some Aussie batter's are getting into form......Michael Clarke's trademark 91 hopefully signs of things to come......Katich, Langer unlucky in the first innings, Martyn and Ponting is finding his feet.......add to that Warne and McGrath.....we will win the second test
