back in the days of Steve Waugh... 3 years ago. Since then a concerted effort has been made to change their ways and it has worked.

Fact is that there is no respect or even a bit of joy on that cricket ground at the momment. England and Australia look like they have a bigger rivalry than India and Pakistan. It's not just a bit fun verbal jousting... The English mean buissnes with all of this.

Hey, it ain't me moaning about players' conduct. I've not seen anything in the first test match that I'm unhappy with!

Hmmmmm! Well, except maybe the Aussies claiming a false catch to remove Strauss,.
Kettle calling pan Grimey Ar€e,what about the TWO catches that Harmison made in the one day internationals, both touched the ground clearly shown on Slow Motion TV. Not one eyed are you??

Fact is though the rest of the world still see you as the snarling bunch of foul mouthed aggressors and it will take a long time for you to lose that tag.Seeing your team moan about exactly what you used to do is taking the michael some what.

Here is where we are...

I'm saying that England need to buck up their attitudes.

The Enlgish fans are telling me that it doesent matter because Australia did it 3 years ago.

Another case of 'But mummy he did it too...'

For the record this is nothing but a minor anoyance to me. It's just a bit depressing to See England playing this series in such poor spirit.

Just doing something the Aussies have been doing for many years. It's OK when you do it but not when we do?

What because vaughan didnt run over to ponting and offer to kiss it better ??? The only reason Brett lee sort of apologised for the beamer is because it was illegal and he he was worried as much about a ban as anything else

Yet if anyone had have spoken out against the Aussies they'd have probably been called whingers.

What a moan about nothing. What is true is:

(i) Australia were like this in the past, if English fans moaned about their attitude then, it would be rammed back down our throats
(ii) Australia are not like it now. Does that give them the right to criticise teams for doing what they themselves did in the past?
(iii) I would prefer teams to 'play fair' and be worried if they'd hurt another player. I'm certainly apologetic if I clatter the ball into someone or bowl a beamer (though at my pace they'd get hit for 6). I think we all need to remember what a ball like Harmison's to Ponting would have done in the years before helmets.
(iv) Catches that don't carry. Well, speaking from experience, you don't always know if they've carried cleanly. There seems to have been quite a few this year (Jones vs Bangladesh, Lee vs England). Its easy to crucify these players using TV, but they may legitimately not know that the ball didn't carry.
(v) This thread is full of hypocrisy from both sides of the equator. England have always prided themselves on playing fair, so those who are saying that 'its only what the Aussies used to do' are just coming up with excuses whilst the Aussies saying that England are playing in a poor spirit are forgetting the 'competitiveness' of Australia under Allan Border and Steve Waugh

Finally, I'll reiterate my desire for a close and competitive series between the two teams.

Now, 'Calm down dears! Its only a cricket series' (ok, maybe not and profuse apologies for paraphrasing a poor advert starring Michael Winner)
