Glenn McGrath is a doubt for the second Test at Edgbaston after being stretchered off in the pre-match warm-up on Thursday. The Australia fast bowler was injured playing a rugby-style game and Mike Kasprowicz has been asked to mark out his run-up.

That is according to BBC.

I don't want to be unsporting but this is good news for England!

It amazes me that players play rugby and football as a warm up.They are asking for trouble.

I was surprised at that as well. If McGrath doesn't start, there are bound to be questions about that.

It seems he has been injured. If he doesn't play then England will have a massive chance to regain some ground in this series. I hope he's alright of course, but England have played plenty of recent Ashes series without our top bowlers and this will be the bit of luck we maybe need to give some grief back to the Aussies. A fast attack of Gillespie, Lee and Kasprowicz is a much better prospect for England then an attack including McGrath, we just need to concentrate on reading Warne now.

Well this will make things very interesting if the reports are true Be a damn good test of the Aussie squad's depth and the game may well be close now.

I was hoping that Kaspa would get a game, but not under these circumstances. Still, Australia went for over a year without McGrath and still won well, so i still expect an Aussie victoty. Got Warne (he would have been irreplacable) and 11 champion players. If the Aussies win this one, at least that will end the argument that Australi rely on McGrath to win
Pretty stupid playing rugby games just before a match though - wonder who's idea that was?

Personally, I'd prefer McGrath to be playing. I think it'd be a partly hollow victory IF England beat Australia without McGrath. Also, could this be the end of McGrath's career? I'm guessing no one knows how bad the injury is yet, but let's hope this isn't the end of the road for one of the best seam bowlers of all time!
