The batting was a good mixture... It wasn't poor by any stretch. Tresco and Strauss got England off to the right start, one that should have been followed, Vaughan wanted a quick score for some reason and failed.... Bell failed... Flintoff and Pietersen brilliantly as well... G O Jones failed and the tail wagged a lot.

So all-in-all I would say a Good innings but not stunning!

You're right, can't see Ponting giving it away just like our boys did so easily. Sounds like he's had plenty of luck this morning.

Bowl to a plan maybe... perhaps use the short ball sparingly. That means one bouncer every three overs, not one pitched-up ball every two balls.

Perhaps it's time for Giles

Apparently Jones is bowling quite well, and harmos had a few beat the bat (although a lot of 4 balls). Is it time for Hoggy to have a "rest" for the next test match ?

They just need to learn to bowl outside off stump. They continously bowl on Ponting's legs and they must all know how good he is in that area.

Maybe? Could go in with two spinners at Old Trafford.
