Women's Ashes

Good on the 15 year old English bowler Holly Colvin who took three wickets on debut yesterday!

In the 'Other Ashes' England ladies are well on top at the moment.

Aussie women 18 - 4 after being all out for 131 in their first innings.

Katherine Brunt and Isa Guha set a new England ladies last wicket partnership in adding 85 to take England to 289 all out.

Gunn's figures are currently 10 - 7 - 4 - 2

England Ladies haven't beaten the Aussies in a test match for 20 years, let alone won the series. This is the final test match of the series. An England win will reclaim the 'Other Ashes' for England. A day and a bit left for them to do it.

Come on Ladies! Show the lads the way to go!

Well, what do you know Andy, they've done exactly that! They won the second and final Test at Worcester today by six wickets, making it the first time in 43 years that the England Women have won the Ashes, that's more than twice as long as the last time the Enland's men won the Ashes. Their victory coincded with a time Australia's men were forced to follow on against the England men , also for the first time in nearly 15 years. Lot's of records being rewritten...history being made. Anyway congrats to Claire Conner and her team.

Yes! Well done to the ladies. I thought the Aussies were going to set a very tough target when Nietsche and Blackwell were going well. Still, England showed that any target is tough to chase by losing 4 wickets on the way to the victory.

I'm a bit annoyed that no one else seems to be bothered about this! Its time to give England Ladies the credit they deserve! English fans who love English cricket should be overjoyed that the Ladies have beaten the Aussies.

Well , at least I noticed

I imagine there would have been a few nerves in the dressing room when they lost those 4, but you can thank Arran Brindle, her unbeaten 24 took you through into the end.

I'm just waiting on the morning papers: if the men get the front pages ahead of the women I'm going to be disgusted!

Just noticed, 3 of the 4 people who took part in this thread were ladies.

Make that 4 out of 5!

What are all the lads/gents doing? Surely it isn't that difficult to drop off a quick congrats message. It would hurt the ego a bit, but still...

There has been some media coverage of it, although it's kind of being tagged on to the story about the England v Austrilia mens series. I heard an interview with Claire Conner on Sky earlier.
