I predict all young Bell's hard work to go to waste this morning as his innings will be curtailed around the early sixties and while not wishing to repeat myself I will go on to predict that the Lancastrian will not make double figures.

I do fully hope and pray that I am wrong, you understand, but with the new ball, I've seen it so many times before.

We could be all out for 380, in which case I'd blame Kevin Pietersen for a stupid shot to the second delivery with the new ball.

"Do you know how much it's bouncing yet Kev? No? Then don't play shots to short pitchers till you know how it is. Alright?"

"C'mon boy, ahken doowit ufta wun bowl."

"No you can't... don't be stupid... but the hair looks great luv."

Michael Clarke

Missed all but the first eleven balls of yesterday and is apparently being re-assessed this morning. The problem is something to do with the discs in his back. Clarke presently tops the series batting averages for Australia. It would be another blow for them if he is not able to bat.

Update: He has not come to the ground this morning, but will be resting at his hotel and will be re-assessed at lunch time.

Statement from Cricket Australia in this report from Cricinfo.

I expect Brett Lee to attempt to bounce out both Freddie and GO Jones. Hopefully neither will be as stupid as KP, they should follow the captain's example and not play it until very well set.

So Bell gets himself out hooking, though it sounds like he didn't hit it.

It didn't look or sound like he hit it to me either. Bucknor over recent times has been a poor, poor umpire. Odd shot for him to play given all the hard work yesterday; why he didn't duck it confuses me. Hopefully Flintoff and Jones realise hooking Brett Lee on this pitch is a no-no.

Bit harsh against Steve Bucknor. He's perhaps past his best, but I don't think it's fair to call him poor.

Bell gets another bad decision but i'd rather have Bucknor past his best than Koertzen who is poor.Poor Ian Bell must be wondering what he has done wrong this series. He has had 2 great balls,2 bad umpiring decisions and the other dismissal was his own fault.Showed why we rate him yesterday though.

I thought he was poor in SA mate. Some of the most odd and bizarre umpiring I've ever watched and he didn't have a great series here last Summer either. He used to be excellent but I think old father time has caught up with him in the last couple of years.

More than anything I'm upset for Bell. That's twice he's been not out in two innings.

Not just you. Similar comments have been made by Christopher Martin-Jenkins and Jonathan Agnew. The Aussies could live to regret bringing him back so soon. Australian commentator, Jim Maxwell, has also just said exactly the same.
