LOL! Excellent point Cricket Girl. But Captain's made a valid observation. By the time we were in Australia, last year, Inzi was widely acknowleged both home and way as being the worst captain in world cricket. People have been a lot more supportive since then. The India tour has definately made a massive impact.

The only conclusion I can come up with why Inzi would not have been selected is his stats in Australia;

Tests 7 Matches @ 35.21 - 15 runs under his career avg
ODI 22 Matches @ 29.90 - 10 runs under his career avg

Looking at those figures the question comes to my mind is why would you select him based on those stats?

Jacques Kallis has a pretty average record against Australia too, did that stop his selection?

AY, can you kindly post a link to where you got these statistics from?

According to Cricinfo, Inzamam's average against Australia in ODIs is 31.96, 7.93 runs below his overall average.

What matters more is the player's recent form against Australia and Inzi averaged a very respectable 39.60 in the VB series. That is higher than Sehwag (24.54), Gibbs (20.56) and Kallis' (35.58) overall ODI averages against AUS.

Sehwag also, sure his is capable of destruction, but his ODI record hardly fronts up really.

plus Shoaib can't even make the Pakistan team at the moment.. One can easily see which market is being targeted here.

Sorry, if I knew how I would. But same place, but I filtered the results from played in Australia. Not just against Australia.

Which would mean Inzaman (29.90), Sehwag (20.50), Gibbs (17.83) and Kallis (32.58). And I would have different players in the side instead of Sehwag and Gibbs. But Kallis has a better average and can bowl. I was not stating that players selected a head of him should have been, I am stating that there are players that have performed better than him against Australia in Australia and that the only complaint can be against the players picked. I would still have left him out of the side, just it would have different players selected.

By the way if the game was being played in the sub-contenant then he would be selected in my side, I just do not think he performs that great in Australia.

I personally don't care what the records say, Inzamam has had a wonderful last 12 months or so with the bat in the one-day game, in fact, pretty much non stop since the World Cup he's been one of the most consistently performing one-day players in the world. I'd actually not hesitate to suggest that in my opinion he is right now the best one-day player in the world. I would have picked him in my one-day world xi, but he would have missed out from the test side. You just can't leave out players with nearly 11,000 runs when they have been in the kind of form Inzi has been of late , regardless of previous history. Or at least that's what I think.

If they were picking players on form against Australia in Australia why was Vaughan omitted?A better captain than Smith too.
