Worst Fielder in Tests

I think this has to be Monty Panesar, who misfields from time to time. Although it is widely believed that he works hard during training, to improve his fielding, he is simply not a good enough fielder to be playing test cricket. Is there anyone who is worse than Panesar in the field?

I struggle to believe Monty works as hard as everyone tells us he does, he is just awful! How could you play cricket with no hand eye co-ordination, which is what Bob Willis claims Monty has; no hand eye co-ordination. All 11 players must be able to field in a cricket team!

Monty. Can you imagine the stick he will get in front of 80,000 or so at the MCG if he plays in the Ashes or the 1 dayers.

Trevor Penny was interviewed this morning on TMS. He's quite clearly impressed by Monty's concentration and work ethic and had no doubt that the lad could be turned into a passable fielder. He's apparently been watching Monty closely and gave the impression that a few easily addressed technical things / training practices should make a big difference in pretty short order.

So should he be on a training session instead of loafing around at Edgbaston?

Well, not loafing exactly - another first over wicket.

Contact lenses were all that Devon Malcolm needed to improve his poor fielding.

Nuwan Zoysa does a good impression of Bambi on ice in the outfield. His fielding on Sri Lanka's previous tour of England in 2002 was something to behold. In his honour, when we played cricket in our garden, if ever someone committed a horrendous misfield it was known as 'doing a Zoysa'.

I've heard Monty is pretty bad (I don't get to see any damn cricket while I'm at uni). But he is still young and can improve on all three facets of his game. I would rather he be in the side for his bowling, which appears to have the potential to be top class. That's what we should be looking at really.
