1. Bomb blast In Srilanka leading SA to withdraw
2. Lanka series washed off completely
3. Pakistan accused of ball tampering
4. Inzamam refuses to play
5. Inzamam faces serious charges
6. Wasim Raja dies playing Cricket

Looks like its a bad time for Asian Cricket.

DomainK, your thread title is more astute ... the whole of cricket suffers from these things. The thing that s so great about cricket is that it is a sport that brings together people from different parts of the world, different cultures, different races, and gives us something to share. It's important that cricket fans across the world stick together for the good of our fantastic sport, and not allow some misfirtune, and some individual differences, to drive apart the teams, players and fans who have benefitted from each other's company for so long. We all love cricket, and this should be primary in our thoughts when we discuss all of the issues the game is dealing with right now.

It's not helped by the Pakistani's believing its all racist - the Hair incident. What a load of rubbish - just typical. Hair did as he should have done and they should get over themselves, i doubt he did it because of the colour of their skin.

As I said, BBA, it's important that cricket fans don't let the current issues become decisive. I would like to less negativity and accusation. I would like to see more solidarity, more positive comments about cricket, more friendship to be shown. Our game is the best in the world, and I'm sure it will survive a few squabbles, as it has done in the past. All it takes is a few people to get together, decide that they will set a positive, conciliatory tone, and others will no doubt follow that lead. After all, cricket fans are pretty good people in my experience, and good people tend to be much happier discussing things in a friendly, good humoured way than arguing with each other.

Peace to all my cricket brethren!

Thanks for pointing out my deliberate typo, M! See solidarity is already reaping rewards.

BBA, it's not what's happened now....But what has been happening for almost a decade. Hair has a HISTORY with Asian teams, and yes, it can't be labelled racist, but then what do you suggest?

You say: "Hair did as he should have done"... This reminds me of a judge who was on tele some time ago, saying that a woman who got raped probably deserved it because of the way she was dressed..

Well first Sri Lanka, on numerous counts, and now Pakistan. People are prepared to jump the gun and call it all out racism, but maybe its just a coincidence?

Either way though, Hair's umpiring standards, and his future need careful consideration.

Thanks, Avkar, for getting the focus back on the positive. There are enough negative things to be said about cricket at the moment, and it would be nice to keep this thread as positive and friendly as possible at least. If cricket was an elderly relative who had had a sudden health scare, we'd be doing our best to nurse that relative back to health and heal the wounds. If cricket fans stick together and refuse to let any problems come between us, then the game will survive and flourish, with its fantastic spirit and sportsmanship intact.
