| ICC News Conference It's on Sky Sports News (Live) right now and this is the latest so far: Darrell Hair, in a letter, said he would step down as un elite umpire for US$500,000. Edit: All of these letters have been given to the PCB and journalists, they could make them public if they wished. Last edited by Vrock : 25-08-2006 at 03:11 PM. |

| There is going to be a meeting in Dubai next Saturday (not tomorrow) with the ICC board to discuss how this whole situation is going to be tackled. Percy Sonn (ICC President) said there that the two issues that are being discussed with this case are (cricketing issues):

| Hair said, in his letter, that he wanted the money by the 31st August (a one-time offer) and that if this didn't happen he would have continued with his contract up until 2008 and officiate for any side anywhere. Malcolm Speed said that the ICC had to make these letters public knowledge because these could be used for the Pakistan case which is ICC rules. The one-off payment was compensation for the next four years in which he would offer his best years of umpiring to the ICC.

| Darrell Hair has issued a statement confirming that he wrote the letter. He also states that this letter was rescinded by himself two days later and that he intends to continue his international umpiring career. I don't care whether Hair manufactured this situation for financial gain or if he did what he believed was right then asked for the money later. Something's dodgy here.
