| pre-ashes build up i enjoyed the last ashes as much as any other neutral and although i am about to enjoy the upcoming ODI tourny i have seen a bit of the bulid up - recently: macgrath: "If he is seeing a psychologist, yes, it is a bit soft. When we go to England, we cop a hard time, we don't see a psychologist beforehand." Glenn McGrath, speaking on Australian radio station 2KY, can't resist having a dig at Monty Panesar and his trips to the psychologist ahead of the Ashes. Did we expect anything less? ![]() i thought this was quite an effectively subtle way of having a go ... but vaughan's response, i think, is much more calculating (in a harmless sort of way): "If I were Freddie, I would try to get a few of the Aussies out drinking with him because it will put them off their games. None of the Aussies could live with him." Michael Vaughan with a tip for Andrew Flintoff. But have the Aussies gone soft ... have the days of David Boon and Rod Marsh setting records for beers consumed en route to England gone the same way as amateurs and walking? he's immediately countered mcgraths stance on well-'ardness (or "soft"ness). i don't usually like the pre-series trash talk but i was quite impressed by both (in particualr vaughan) |

| McGrath's comments while often verging on the stupider side, are nevertheless entertaining. |

| McGrath is, without doubt, the best seam bowler of the last 10 years. He is, however, useless, at pre-series wind-ups. His comments are either stupid (e.g. the psychologist one), overconfident(the last series one about 5 - 0), or completely untrue (about all the previous series being close and Aus respecting Eng and taking them seriously). Vaughn's attempt was much more subtle, but I was impressed with Warne talking up how great Freddie was when there is a good chance he won't be fully fit - pure genius! |

| Actually.... Vaughns last comment has been very astutely answered by Mgraths latest one... vaughn said the aussies would not be able to keep up in drinkin with flintoff... well Mcgrath has proved that the aussies still know how to drink and get plastered lol.. he has just predicted another 5-0 white wash for england in the ashes...hahahaha... try to beat that one

| Why does McGrath always wheel his enromous mouth out a few months before the Ashes, with his 5-0 predictions? Is he trying to frighten us? Are we meant to be scared? Or is he just a pillock?

| Don't let me answer that, otherwise I might have to moderate one of my own posts! Seriously though, when I saw that I just thought to myself: "Glenn. When will you learn?". I guess it's either force of habit, or he's been at the Fosters or Castlemaine again.
