Yeah but there contribution to the battle front was minimal, but their contribution to the home front was large....

Maybe you Aussies need to have the security of the old guys.. but the war will be won or lost by the new guys..

Personally I am very happy if you want to go for the old players, I am much more worried about the young hungry guys like Cosgrove, Jaques, Tait and Johnson. If any of those guys are in the team, it will be a different story..

I dont remember the decline of the two bowlers you mention, but theres a difference in that McGraths bowling at the moment isn't pathetic, or anything like, so why are you continually lining up the best seamer in the world as the weak link? He may be past his peak fitness but he can still bowl, and bowl well. The weak link of the Australian side is likely to be whoever they pull in as 3rd seamer, purely because if they weren't a weak link they wouldn't have to wait to see if they got picked - they'd be in.

Watson will play most games.
Mitchel Johnson will probably get a chance in the first test.(Although Stuart Clarke does not deserve to get dropped).
If this was any other season Phil Jaques would have replaced Langer, but the selectors are taking the proven(easy) route.
I don't know if follow Aus cricket to closely, but our selectors play it safe.We will pay the price for it soon, but for now winning back the urn is all that matters.

Team struggles

What with Harmy now injured for England, and Watson and Martin also dodgy for the Aussies.i might even get a game!
Believe Harmy will be sorely missed if he is out, Aussies probably have more strength in depth in their possible replacements .
Good to see Hoggy getting a few wickets,he may have to lead the attack with freddie!
