Lightbulb King of Spain Thread

To commemorate the naming of Ashley Giles as one of the Wisden cricketers of year, as well as mark the launch of the official WAT King of Spain Fans' Club, I hereby start the official Ashley Giles thread. I thought we have specific ones for Freddie, Murali, Afridi, Kaneria and may be a few more, so why not one for him as well. Please use this thread to discuss anything and everything about his royal highness the King of spain.

To kick off, Giles is one of five players to be named Wisden's cricketers of the year. The other cricketers of the year are Rob Fat Key, Andrew Lord Brocket Strauss, Marcus Banger Trescothick and Steve Homesick Harmison. This is the first time in 45 years that all five cricketers of the year are English. More on this story here

The cricketer of the year award normally goes to players for their "influence on the previous English season" and a player can only gain the accolade once.
Wisden editor Matthew Engel told BBC Radio Five Live,"It's a reflection of the enhanced status of England in world cricket". "If you look through last season there was no question these were the people who influenced the game."There was no one from the touring teams or overseas players to match them."

Congratulation Ashley Giles, this is thoroughly well deserved.

Nice idea Zainub!

Yes, I was dead chuffed to see Gilo had been rightfully named one of the five Wisden Cricketers of the year. It represents some well deserved recognition for all his hard work and determination. Recognition at last!!

I knew you would like(love) the idea, so I'm offering you the presidency of the club. You're accepting it, right? Would be soo cool if we could get this written under our names...

Sadly, I don't have a digital camera or scanner, RBLC I'll have to work on it!

I must say, though, it is a thing of greta beauty

By the way, once again Giles was on the winning side, and that annoying twirp McCoist was defeated - nice to start to the weekend!

You can get your photos put onto CD. No excuses now! We need to see that picture. I've never actually seen a picture of the King of Spain mugs - possibly the most famous edition of mugs ever produced anywhere in the world, ever. So it would be nice to see one, nudge, nudge, hint, hint.
