| The Hair Thread Surprising that in my very long stay here I've never remembered to ask everyone here of what kind of hair they have. Please step forward and describe your present hair styles if you wish to do so in this thread. If TAFHCA is pleased, you might get your selves membership. Please note that anything abnormally long, weirdly shaped or coloured is not a favorite with me, and elongated side burns are banned out right. There is also zero tolerance for dreadlocks, mullets and fringes (exceptions in case of fringes allowed if you're chubby and can play cricket or other sport well). Baldness if involuntary gets sympathy but otherwise it's viewed more often then not with a skeptical eye. Just for the record, I have reasonably short (long enough to get a reasonable pony tail), black and straight hair which I yesterday got cut into layers. Well, I managed to, some how. Actually, the real reason I'm starting this thread is because I like things simple and sane. So simple and sane that I couldn't understand half of the hair related terms I was exposed to yesterday when I went to my designated parlour to get that cut. That which lady usually deals with me had a day off , it made me terribly unhappy and I almost postponed the idea, but then this other lady convinced me she could do just as good a job so I just about managed to not change my mind. It wasn't easy though, I manage to convey to her eventually what I wanted, just a nice shortenning in the length in layers, but she was very advanced and always kept asking questions I had no answers to, like 'Do you want short layers, mam or you prefer long ones' , she wasn't impressed with my response when I said I wanted the kind of layers 'my lady' use to give me. It dented my confidence a bit , you know. As founder and president of TAFHCA you like to think you know all there is to know about hair cuts and hair styles but turns out there are a lot of things I have not idea about, layer types being just one of them. I actually over heard a coversation that other lady was having with another of her clients as they discussed their options whilst I was waiting for my turn, and I was stumped. I knew what a Bob cut was but what the hell is a 'Graduated Bob' ? And even though I can imagine in part what 'an angle bob' could look like I'm not sure I had heard of that term before either. Other terms I am still oblivious to: 1) Wedge Cut 2) Pixie Cut 3) A-line cut 4) Fire fly cut Help, anyone? Last edited by Zainub : 21-12-2005 at 10:03 PM. |

As for me, I have shoulder length straight black hair (with sprinkling of grey) cut in layers and have slight bangs (oops) which always curl up rather than stay straight. I've tried to convice my stylist to get rid of that irritating detail but she insists it suits me, so I'm stuck. |

| I'm as plain as they come, short back and sides, let it grow for 6-8 weeks then get it cut. Nice and easy.

| Interesting. Inzi's about alright now, nothing particularly wrong, but he could do with more regular combing. I'm presuming you do that workkey, so welcome on board to you as well! |

| you can compare me with his beard also...and as far is combing is concerned i do that just once a day as i keep a cap on my hair after that ![]() |
