Hoping for Stosur to win, but Hingis will show how little the women's game has improved with a big win.

What's your issue with Hingis? She's a more accomplished player than Roddick (who'd be slaughtered by pretty much anyone if he played with a wooden racket: take away his brawn and there's not much else) and is 10x the player than Davenport will ever be. I would prefer Henin's backhand over any other backhand in the history of women's tennis.... and ahead of any backhand in the men's game bar those of Federer and Kuerten... but aside from the serve Hingis has pretty much everything else.

Hingis' serve is merely a means of getting the ball into play rather than a weapon... which is the way tennis should be played (and would be played if anyone could come up with a reasonable way of removing the advantage of a big serve)... but Hingis is so far ahead of everyone else on court-craft that no serving like Venus Williams shouldn't be a huge issue.

I know this is a little off topic and sounds a little weird, but Henin's backhand is possible the most aesthetically pleasing thing I have ever seen in sport. Beats gymnastics anyday!

What Rachael said.

Hingis was, and now is once more, the most talented female tennis player I have seen in my lifetime. If she had all of her skill and the power of Venus or Serena, she'd be the Federer of women's tennis, unbeatable. As it is though, she's hard enough to beat anyway.

No issue with Hingis at all; merely the fact that after four years on the sidelines one shouldn't come back and automatically dominate...and if they do, then it is right to ask serious questions of the sports improvement.

Look at George Best when he returned to Fulham; he was a shadow of his former self, and though the booze didn't help, he didn't dominate at all.

All I'm saying here is how can someone come back from four years out of the game, dominate, and expect people not to question if the game has improved.

Should we always expect sport to always be progressing, we talk of great cricketer's and cricket teams of the past and how teams now-a-days are going backwards? I agree that the standard of play is not getting increasingly better every year but that's the way it is, if you don't like it don't watch it.
